The Coral won't blow up
All endings spoilers

Both Walter and Carla metion that igniting Coral is extremely difficult. For the Fires of Raven, you literally need to siphon all of the Coral on the planet into a giant tube, compress it untold amounts, and crash a highly explosive gigantic city-ship into the thing. News flash: ANY SUBSTANCE would blow up in such extreme conditions. Coral is not explosive, it's the opposite.

What the Observer fear is Coral's extreme pace of evolution, threatening to displace humanity as the most advanced living being in the galaxy / universe. For that fear, they would scorch a whole solar system as many times as it requires to completely eradicate all traces of Coral.

A mass of Coral is highly conductive to both energy and information, capable of hosting human consciousness and powering gigantic monstrosities for decades. It also can easily integrate with human technology, even not Coral-based.

There are two explicit examples of Coral-human symbiosis, Ayre / Raven and ??? / Thumb Dolmayan. There are also two ambiguous examples of this, being Walter / ??? (Institute scientist) and Carla / ??? (Institute scientist).

We see what Dolmayan and his Coral counterpart decided to do with their situation: they created a movement to protect the Coral from the corporations, but not for Coral's sake, but for Rubiconians to use it up themselves. In one of his logs, he says to his Coral counterpart that unlike ???, he would never allow "this" to happen to his "brothers and sisters", and that his hypocricy disgusts him, as that's exactly what the two of them are striving towards.

Dolmayan got into Contact with Coral after getting high on too many drugs. Walter and Carla may or may not have been reached out to by their Institute superiors? / colleagues? / guardians?

Walter frequently mentions taking requests from his "friends", which are conspicuoulsy missing from the logs, and Carla asks him how he's doing, which prompts him to speak of the voices 621 keeps hearing. Also, in the Liberation ending, Walter can hear Ayre speak, and comments that "you have found a friend too". Not particularly conclusive that Walter is in Contact, as all those things can be explained with other stuff, but also not impossible. If he indeed is in Contact, then we have a second Coral consciousness in addition to Dolmayan's counterpart that doesn't have the Coral's best interests. Dolmayan wants to exploit it, Walter wants to erase it, presumably with the blessings of their counterparts.

Now, there are three choice before Raven and Ayre.

First is to destroy all Coral completely. Negates all the problems, extinguishes all possibilities, results in a genocide and a xenocide. Everything dies, including Ayre, the PCA, the corpos, the Rubiconians, and Walter and Carla.

Second is to drive off external influences and lead the Rubiconians. Ambiguous as to what they're actually going to do, but there is a possibility for them to twist Dolmayan's teachings into encouraging Contact and integrating Coral into human existence, leading by example.

Third is to transcend the boundaries of species and spread across the stars. Transhumansim at its purest, using Coral as a conduit for consciousness and metal as avatar for consciousness. The largest possibilities enabled, the most chaos caused. The human experience is changed forever, with innately intuitive acces to any hardware imaginable, communication across the stars, vast expansion of the limit sof consciousness and many more. Coral will proably be mined extensively throughout the galaxy by the corpos, which will probably trigger a hostile response from the transhuman hivemind. Corpos vs Transhumans, with regular ol' Humanity caught up somewhere in the crossfire.

------------------------------------------------------

To me, the Liberation ending is clearly the best. Good thigs are goo, bad thigns are gone, the possibility is there to tame the Coral and coexist with it in harmony, enjoying the fruits of its enormous potential.

All of you avocating for the Fires of Raven are omnicidal maniacs, who would sacrifice everything in theri reach for the fears of people who use you as a literal tool.

Alea lacta Est introduces too much change at once, which will cause much chaos and conflict, but ultimately it will raise humanity to a new level of being.

thank you for explaining this

I'm on NG+ and I am so confused at the story
my theory was that walter and carla are former kids of the 2 scientists and walter's father nuked the planet aka fires of ibis and carla's father was the crazy mad scientist which would explain how shes so good at building mechs, robots, A.I. and all sorts of ungodly things

as for Ayre, I still don't understand how she basically merged with Raven. I know shes a coral herself but why are all the RaD dozer's not transhumans with coral as they use it like drugs?

The story is so confusing but interesting.

Pretty much what I think as well.

it seems it's not particualrly easy to get into Contact. For one, you need to actualy find a Coral-hosted human consciousness if you want to speak with it. Second, you must have a high affinity for Coral, or to be capable of interacting with it at all.

Raven got hit by a large blast of Coral in the Watchpoint explosion. A part of that surge was carrying Ayre, and the cirumstances allowed her to initate Contact. As any AC pilot in AC6, Raven is an augmented human, meaning his body and mind have been imbued with Coral in order to allow him to pilot an AC at all. Normal humans pilot MT's. As such, Raven can hear Ayre's voice speaking directlyinto his brain.

When Ayre speaks to you in cutscenes, you actually see her. That red blinking dot in the middle of the screen - that's her. A clump of Coral carrying a human consciousness. During the Balteus fight, she floated about in your mind, speaking to you, and in your mech, rebooting it and disaabling comms with Walter. Then, when the fight ended, she felt the Convergence and decided to hitch a ride in your AC, as it would be faster and easier to get there on something which can propel itself instead of vaguely drifting about. And then you start to bond and the rest of the story happens.

Coral can conduct information well enough to host a human cosciousness. When (augmented) Dosers absorbe untamed Coral, it likely causes a hell of a trip. It seems one of the coral clumps Dolmayan has ingested was sentient, which changed his whole life after that point.

It just feels like you have to destroy everybody cause apparently 621 was supposed to just be sent there to help blow up coral for Walter's secret mission but apparently you the player (621) became so good at blowing up anything made of metal that every faction seems to want to kill you. I felt bad about fighting the redguns except Iguazu that dude needs to get laid hes too stress thinking hes hot shot AC pilot. I'm still on NG+ but I hope there is a way to convince the rest of the redguns or atleast G1 and G6 cause they seem to have reason before shoot first ask questions later compared to the other characters ingame.

It is unfortunate, but as much as you may like those characters, they don't just exist in a vacuum, they stand for their cause. Specifically, the Redguns are Balam's main fighting force, and everything you strive towards is ultimately against corpo interests, including Balam. Because of that, you will never see eye-to-eye with them, unless you join Balam yourself, and that simply isn't an option.

Also, Iguazu is a gen 4 augmented human, same as you. But you are a competent and prominent merc, while he's a fukcing loser. That's why he hates you so much.

But remember Walter's words about gen 4. He says they're particuarly prone to hearing voices.
