does anyone else think that double shotguns are stupidly overpowered?
i've been playing through ng+ and i've been breezing through almost everything with my double shotie build. i feel like it should be nerfed.

No, not at all. There are some situations where it's fantastic, and others where I get rolled like crazy.

ever tried dual gatling gun?
HypetheKomodo Aug 30, 2023 @ 1:55pm
Nah. They're powerful but they require very aggressive play. You basically have to be in barrel stuffing range to be effective with any of the shotties, even the Zimmers which are advertised to have 'longer range'.

It fits with the more aggressive playstyle AC6 is going for.

Dual shotguns aren't strong, most other things are weak. They have an acceptable level of lethality, most other things are just peashooters
Dual shotguns are ok but you are forgetting quad shotguns. Now thats insane... the only cooldown is the time it takes to swap after firing before you can fire again.

Shotguns punish you really hard if you shoot at the wrong time, and you are forced to stick very close to your opponent which is often difficult and risky. the game SHOULD reward you greatly for being able to use the shotguns effectively. Think about it, with gattling guns you can literally just hold down both mouse buttons and never take them off and youll be fine. There is wayyyy more being asked of you to be effective with shotguns, it would be insane if it didnt reward you for that IMO. there woould be no reason to use them

It is an aggressive balancing act. Too far away and they do ♥♥♥♥ all, too close and you shoot "through" or "past" them.

I am running around with a two shot nail launcher, songbirds and dual zimms. My problem is stepping away from the zimms.

i guess i'm better than i think? a lot of bosses only take one attempt for me using duel shoties

The Long-range shotgun is my favorite toy, but **man** does it hurt when you miss that shot.

Personally I like using melee weapons. As is tradition

Well, as mentioned, AC6 encourages aggression. If you're able to get in close, unload with shotties and survive that's their intention. That's not saying long range combat isn't possible and at times recommended.

It's always situational. There's situations where shotties really shine, and then there's times where you can't close the distance and you see that lovely [RICOCHET] notification and your attack does nothing and you can't fire your shotties again for about two seconds.

It's a painful two seconds.

exactly. you get punished big time if you are too trigger happy. you should be able to kill things pretty quick if you are pounding them with a shotgun and not missing

I've never seen a battle where shotguns were not easy mode.

comboed with railguns, they are DEADLY.
rails for long range sniping, shotguns for stagger building. anything that is 1x1 melts like butter.

of course, for some missions there are setbacks, like, the shotgun being essentially useless for long range sniping and smaller ennemy disposal, since some takes one or two shots to kill and the combo use is not ideal, given how the Shoulder guns have limited ammo for a full frontal assault. making your AC very open to attacks if you get surrounded by multiple small ennemies. a thing that is more an inconvenience than an issue in my high AP builds that can take quite the punishment. i mean, singe ennemy or boss, the combo is unbeateable. you literally turn a situation that an ennemy that was basically a Kobayashi Maru (almost impossible to win like Blateus or Sea Spider) upside down, making the player be in an situation almost impossible to lose, if said player has some hability with maneuvering.

Final Boss of the Fire of Raven ending... it was a hell of a fight.
Tried Tank+Gatling, Tried Jumpy Melee, Jumpy Range... everything I could muster. Even restarted after I farmed more items...

Than I switched back to double Zimmerman + Missle + Needle Worm Gun... and the fight was a blast :D not easy, but fun and I won.
Overall Double Zimmerman + Songbird carried several fights for me... they are really usefull. But OP? There are stronger things. Double Gats :D
