Edit: Just saw no mouse next to your name so I will assume you are on console so no keyboard and mouse. In that case either claw grip or a controller with back buttons.
you soft lock is better than hardlock.
so if you have a mouse, a steam controller, or Steam Deck you pretty much can keep up without hardlock.
And there are some things seemingly impossible to do without hard lock, like assault boost past the enemy, only to instantly turn around and fire.
Yeah, I tried quickturn once, and considered it unnecessary for KB+M. I guess, it's needed for assault boost turns,
Still not sure this would actually match a hard locked boost turn to shoot in execution speed - small delay for FCS to re-acquire target and me to actually to react.
The more close range your gear is, the more you want hard lock to keep up with moron tracking or "So this heavy biped AC is basically faster than a player light ac because.... ♥♥♥♥ you." constantly circling around you up close in ways all the "hard lock will ruin PvP!" doomsayers could only dream of.
As opposed to "I can still see you, you know" soft lock at a distance.
Yeah thinking about it, it could have helped to cheese that fight... and the ending fight too
