Or then you can take the OS upgrade to have guns on your shoulders and you take four guns instead of two.
I'm also using the heaviest reverse jointed legs with a few other heavy parts to have a nice balance between AP and mobility.
If you try to melee, all you see is a massive explosion and he's suddenly on the other end of the map. You can't get that close. I don't even know what weapon he's using. I beat him in the Arena so I have his schematic, but it only tells you that you can't build it, not what's missing, so I can't see if the game is just making up parts for AI that players don't get. It's likely at this point. Cheating is the only option.
The Bad Cooks run out of ammo too quickly to handle the 18,543 drones and MT's that you also need to kill. It didn't work when I tried that combo.
I did him on melee though...
Same, I was almost able to constantly stunlock him with melee kicks and dual Zimmerman shotguns.
It WILL get the job done even if it is surprisingly ♥♥♥♥ against armored cores because they love to input read evade the charged shot (good bait to make them dodge into a laser cannon, though)
The second line rifle has stronger shots, but you overheat it with one charged shot. and like, "only" over 200 ammo. But it hurts AC better to sprinkle with basic shots.
Also consider the basic or medium bazooka with 70 or 50 ammo or some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Weaker than grenades, but again. 70 to 50 ammo. The super bazooka that looks like a metal spike is stronger, but you WILL feel that 40ish ammo capacity using it to sweep up MT first.
Zimmerman does no damage to him, and if it does, he cheats and heals to full when you break his ACS. Guessing the AI has estus flasks, too, but theirs are way better.
Trying to melee him, I either get locked on the approach or he does the explosion teleport thing. Plus the dozens of enemies messing with my lock and making it generally chaotic. The drones can dodge all of my missiles too, making the 10-pods useless. The only thing that works is very fast and rapid fire like a minigun, but the ammo is gone before G1 even shows up.
I gave that a shot, too. I've tried every melee weapon I have available. The lance's windup on a charge attack is too slow. G1 kicks me out of it every time. The game definitely reads inputs.
Missile multilock can help to clean up the tiny helicopters and are still viable against G1. Bigger missile racks will delete MTs in a single salvo for you to fire and forget and move on to another target.
It's probably the only fight where MT grunts actually pose a threat but only because they can stop you from instagibbing the main target.
You just need a decent right hand weapon to finish a stagger bar after landing some missiles while kiting the MT crowd.
