i knew that comment would be, and that is true, but as a thumb nail :) let, lets say for 1v1 AC fights
Boost around dodging everything while missiling around.
Even things like leg choices make a significant difference since there are lightweight options for most leg types, and a tank is going to enable different approaches to a jumpy reverse-jointed.
Lets you focus on movement cause it's easy to hit stuff with em
Also they're imba
Which is why linear rifle (The basic one. second one has stronger shots, but the charged shot instantly overheats it. making you have to stop chain murdering MT and drones) has been one of my most frequently used guns. the charged shot will one shot kill or stun any basic MT or even sniper turret, even no-scoping outside of lock range, that is not shamelssly flagged as "sniper proof"
One shotgun is a letdown. Two shotguns is success. So far as watching Iblus facetank point blank shotguns just fine, or always pro backboosting to two inches into ricochet range even on a lighter faster build.
Just a long string of swears as they almost but not quite staggered, until I used two and hey wow, boss actually gets hurt when I shoot it in the face now. Wow so imbalanced that I need two shotguns to get ♥♥♥♥ all done. Even mid game MT will often tank ONE shotgun to the face and go "Ow, that almost killed me!" and then boost away.
I expect the fact players are not made of cheat code ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is why shotguns feel stronger in PvP.
The quad of course allows some heavier weapons for back up when that fails.
Wuerger laser shotgun deserves a special mention because the charge attack has a NASTY combo with melee weapons and stagger. Another honorable mention is the 45-091 JVLN BETA missile launcher. It feels like a gimmick and probably won't work in every terrain, but it is surprisingly effective at staggering ACs and similar opponents.
Some kinetic pistols, small machine guns and burst rifles are fine too, but I haven't experimented with them too much.
Size matters, and shorter is better. Bullets come out of the end of the gun, so you can actually miss if you are too close to something (e.g. after a melee hit).
Most melee weapons will work, but the starting pulse blade, laser dagger, pile bunker and maybe the lance feel best for me. Laser sword is nice too, but it's kinda slow and doesn't track too well.
Charge weapons and non-missile shoulder weapons can be useful (can't go wrong with a VE-60SNA worm gun or Songbirds if the weight allows), but shooting them puts you in a stationary firing stance so you have to be careful.
The bad stuff:
Most drones I've tried are kinda garbage. The stun baton and plasma whip melee weapons feel worse than using fists.
Edit: Almost forgot, but hand missile launchers are decent. Probably the best bet if you want to make a light, but long range AC since most things that have good range either have meh damage or require a firing stance that locks you in place.
