[Spoilers] What is Coral?
Just finished the third ending and the whole coral idea sounds really stupid, the game suggests coral is a living being that was born in rubicom but that doesn't mean it should think or have feelings, I would understand if an IA was using coral as a host but it doesn't look like that either, the idea of being able to put your conscious into coral sounds like to much of a fantasy to me too, didn't play many Amored Core games but this plot doesn't sound right.

Like Eureka Seven AO coral maybe? It's been long since i watched it. But it is sort of living mineral as well?

The term coral refers to a number of marine animals belonging to the cnidarian branch, characterized by their hard skeleton. In a restricted sense this name is used by scientists to refer to the order of Scleractinia, hard coral reef builders, but in a broader sense the term is sometimes used to refer to many other fixed cnidarians, such as gorgonians.

So that's the truth. Coral already exist and IT'S ALREADY ALIVE

Coral imo is like cells right? Cells convert energy and use energy, So essentially thats why humans can use coral as a fuel source and an adaptive material, because coral itself is adapting, And from what i understand the fires of ibis was coral consuming the entire city so everyone inside the blast zone was absorbed by coral and they essentially became adaptive material for the coral

What do you mean it sounds like too much of a fantasy to you? It's a fairly normal trans-humanistic concept. It does bring into the philosophical question of is the coral you actually the same person, or just a clone with all your memories.

No seriously it's often a theme in sci fi : there's life on others planets but it's so small that it's irrelevant for us so we come and stomp on it to take everything for ourselves.

I watched the anime Exception not long ago on netflix, exactly this trope.

The art was weird but it wasn't that bad.

It's some sort of quasi-dimensional exotic matter that reacts with itself to produce immense amounts of net-positive energy, and due to its self-reaction behaves like a living entity and can form an almost neural-like network within enough concentrations of itself. It's getting in to the "paracausal" territory a bit with what it does and how but it's basically your standard sci-fi "humanity discovered a strange material that can be used as a near limitless energy source so developed all their technology around it without considering what that energy does and where it comes from and so a catastrophe happened that killed billions but the energy is too good to give up so corporations want it regardless of the threat to human life because capitalism baybeeeeeee". Think Markers from Dead Space but instead of big pillars its a mineable resource and instead of space zombies it sets time and space on fire and makes you hear a woman in your head that calls you studmuffin.

it's something magicial/spiritual... like the Spice in Dune or Data storm/PERMET system Gundam witch from Mercury, or Newtype in Gundam after they die, or Mako from FF7.

Trye you can just say that : space magic.

Don't forget they also use it as fuel, and a drug somehow? Don't read too deep into it, the whole plot is silly and flat as a door. It's just a plot device to justify the conflict. I doubt they thought very hard about how funny and nonsensical it is. It's a magical unobtainium thing.

It's life essence of main purpose is to kamehameha. I tend to think each gen is disconnected so I don't care about lore and stuffs when it comes this series. But if you ask me, yeah I don't like this new-wave mhw approach on the coral.
Korinth Aug 29, 2023 @ 12:29am
Yeah you can dope yourself with it. That's why you can talk with Ayre, you're "full of it" because you're a pilot modified with it to be better with your AC.
