I honestly believe he is overtuned as an act 1 boss, but he does force you to git gud.
Bosses after him are difficult but if you can defeat Balteus you can overcome the others imo.
There's none of that here. It is not a Souls game.
As long as you bought the right parts this game is super easy until you reach the bosses. Even those aren't all that bad IF you use the right parts/know the trick to each one.
But it can take quite a few tries for each. Nowhere near as bad as something like Artorias from DS in my opinion.

Have you tried using pulse guns on his shield?
That being said, don't go in expecting this to be a souls-type game. It's very different in how the game wants you to approach the challenges. Focus on all the resources you have available, how you can diversify your roster of mechs, and weapons. Also, press Y when viewing armor and equipment for more detailed views of the menu. That is one thing similar to Dark Souls and Elden Ring. The information is all there, but you need to proactively learn it
Really can't agree. Dark Souls had some really nasty enemies that could easily kill you outside of boss fights. Black Knights etc.
In this no enemy other than a boss is really a challenge.
The bosses ARE nasty but considering there's zero risk of losing "souls" in this there's no downside to simply trying to kill them over and over again (other than making less money for the mission).
I definitely remember having more trouble in Dark Souls.
