Which Gun to Use?
So I've been using a speed oriented AC so far and its been good. One thing I've been having trouble with is deciding which gun to use. My left arm has the shotgun blade combo which is great. Just need a good gun to pair it with and have simply been testing out a bunch of different ones. What do you guys suggest?

Depends on your playstyles

Close range:
Zimmerman shotguns are then best close range - they often fill up stagger gauge over 50%
Handguns are fun but their viablity is arguable

Shoulder guns:
Zimmerman shotguns (4 Zimmerman shotguns are suprisngly viable)
stun guns you get from worm missions (2 of them can easly stagger on their own)

Long range(Haven't played much):
Laser/plasma rifles
rifles with chargable shoots

Ditch the blade and grab another shotgun. Use a songbird on the right and have a pilebunker on the left shoulder for staggers.

Second SG for even more stagger/spike damage. Double SMG for dueling with a lightweight build. Handheld missile launcher if you need an engage/disengage weapon for when you are not within close range.

lots of guns are real solid, and bazookas are worth the pausing to fire because they have good ammo counts.

But that said. if you want an MT/target structure mop up gun? Linear rifle lasts basically forever and the charged shot can one shot/one hit stagger any fodder even OUTSIDE OF FLOCK RANGE that is not flagged as "sniper proof lol"

A line rifle charge shot can one-hit kill outside of lock range sniper cannons in wall climber and the sniper MT in that mission too. Then it bounces off fat floating drones and some midgame MT because... videogames.

Shotguns are cool, handguns are cool and hit harder than line rifle. But if you want to absolutley, have a mountain of ammo, on a gun that can chump MT while also being accurate enough to play duck hunt with small drones? Line rifle. Evasion is even easier when fodder is dying before it can even shoot you. Shotguns you need to give them a chance.

Good thing we have weapon storage options so you can stash a line rifle/shotgun combo for your right hand.

Depends how far into the game you are, you'll have access to different things the further in you play.

Chainsaw is really cool. but the charged attack cancels assault boost. I got enough issues as it is with enemies evading follow up melee even after staggering them with a kick, to have my melee weapon be even slower.

Thanks for the responses guys. My go to strategy so far has been to pressure with the right gun and missiles to follow up with massive damage from the left arm weapons. I'll try them all and see which one to go with. And if all else fails I can just swap between and use them all.

The fun thing about the chainsaw. If you land the charge, it stagger locks enemies for the full attack, and will almost definitely stagger them.

Laser pistols are great as well. You can spam them or charge 1 at a time.

For the last half of my playthrough I just used shotguns and hand guns. Four shotguns for enemies you can time the shots on for stagger, for anything that refuses to get hit just use two hand guns and shotguns for the damage while staggered.

Handguns are super busted, the only thing balancing them is low ammo capacity if you have to fight more than 2 ac's worth of hp

Yes.

Zimmermans are amazing, i usually pack one as backup for melee
VP-66LS are faster firing and energy but not as much impact.

Curtis is pretty good and lightweight.
VP-66LH are honestly my choice on dual wield light mechs.

For back Songbirds or needle launchers from new game++

For melee either starter sword, ashmead or red moonlight.

So melee falls off I guess compared to shotguns. Does the type matter though? I've been using the Zimmerman but are the laser shotguns and handguns better?

Songbirds are for slow pokes who like to miss. Use laser cannons, faster, actually hit mobile targets.

How are the needle launchers? I saw a video of someone absolutely shrekking Balteus with them without getting hit once.

My main concern would be projectile speed. Most of them in this game are too slow... INCLUDING LASERS. How can a laser not move at light speed?

The bazookas are a joke against anything with the ability to dodge or just move slightly.
