building your own ac is fun
I know the fan base is divided between the "git gud" squad vs the its "too hard" squad
then there's the "this is not a souls game" vs this is "mechs with souls" game.
But for me its the customization thats epic.

I'm not gona lie I'm a subpar player died at least 7 times in the big chopper fight but still endured and the Balteus fight for some unknown reason was easier to kill for me.

Anyways even though I'm not good at the game I really enjoy the building and customizing part of AC's as a long time fan of gundams and gunpla model kits irl it just makes me smile to unlock more parts and just spend hours customizing various mechs then going into a boss fight and dying a million times but it is what it is I just take it as "beat the boss get more cool parts repeat"

what are all your reasons/thoughts on the game so far?

i guess its big part for ac games i just wish fandom of older titles would chill how more complex/hard these series is vs souls games

but lets be honest they are just salty because ac never took off as souls games this is way they need "i knew FROM before souls games" memes

sad when you think about it

Not really, I generally preferred when AC was not known by many people and was niche.

My only gripe is that a bit of customization depth ended up not coming back. Still wished they kept the level of detail from 4/fA with weight/stabilization parts (although it's probably just a NEXT thing because they are bigger than traditional ACs). But ah well, I can still have fun with what is here anyway.

In a way yes, they're clearly making a lot of things streamlined for the sake of play ability and wider access to other players, but as a result we lost a lot of stuff that was aimed at players like me who wanted a very in depth mecha game. The story for example became much more simple, the missions feeling very basic with no real challenge until you reach the souls boss, the music feels bland, the characters feeling really uninteresting; ect. And clearly this has many people who would never/had never played AC before feeling like this is a great game since it appeals to them more, it lacks the parts of the older AC games they would hate/had hated or found "silly".

You're not subpar. We all die. The game even makes referances to it all the time. We are called 621 because 620 died before us. It's.. I'm sorry, I really am, but I have to say it.. ludonarative resonance.
Difficulty spikes is what makes the game feel dangerous and that's what I like about it. It's not just melancholic, it's threatning.
And yeah customization is good. It really works for me because how unlocking works. I completed the game without exploring too much, but apparently there are collectables and ng++ content, so I'm more than satisfied.
My only complaint so far is the lack of multiplayer options. I apreciate 3vs3, but I really need PvE multiplayer in this game. A dlc with a multiplayer Boss Rush mode I would buy without thinking. If I remember corectly AC5 also had a cool multiplayer where one player is a sguad coordinator. I just wish there are more ways to play with muh buddies. Unlocking parts in MP would also be great.

I see you have an opinion. Might be a shame is someone mistook it for objective reality.

Interesting maybe when it would be actually more interesting because as of now its pretty meh for me, sure its fun enough to finish the game but it lacks something and swapping/build mech parts isn't doing it for me

It's lacking a lot of stuff, that I think most people who have played the older games can agree with.

I love how each time i get to a boss i cant beat, i go back, grind some missions and create a whole new mech just to face it and see what I can use to leverage its weaknesses.

I think thats part of the gameplay design, ofcourse I've seen players just use default mech or make meme builds or just try to stick with their 1 ultimate all arounder mech and brute force it. It does work sometimes with a bit of luck of said player hasn't rage quit yet.

I currently have 7 mechs built each tailored to a different mission as well as just enjoying trying to make a bunch of zeon and earth federation themed AC's (gundam fanboy)

I've wanted this game for so long. I stopped playing games altogether and felt I grew out of them as I grow closer to 30. But this released and I didn't even think I'd buy it. I pre-ordered about an hour before release not sure what I was expecting. I love this game so much. I feel like my passion for games never actually went anywhere suddenly, and that maybe it was just the current state of most games just not appealing to me.

The game has its weaknesses, of course. But as a mech fan that grew up with Armored Core, I'm enjoying every second of it.

I thought it was the other way around?
dark souls was kind a a niche game and basically created a cult
then the elden ring launch basically cemented souls like gaming and a huge fandom

mechs atleast in the 90s and early 2000s was niche but also was more relevant as other mech games were available

I feel like mech games kinda "died" or at least vanish for like a decade mainstream wise
