Very late. During the "Reach the coral convergence" mission. Its in a AC secret chest. End of bridge, surrounded by wheel guys. Its not a high powered power house anymore though. Its a projectile melee.

Oh yeah it looks amazing, and being projectile means enemies cant just move backwards to avoid it, but compared to the sheer power house it use to be, I'm personally still quite sad. Cant just engine melt someone with the sheer heat. XD

the moonlight was never a question,, but does the moon light shoot a lazer moon
i might be miss remembering but i think the moon light in AC5 didnt shoot anything ???

It sacrifices raw damage for versatility. It's range is actually quite high, like 300m or so high.
Treat it like a high burst damage ranged weapon.

It kind of is a swiss army knife, it does good burst, has good range, is free to use, and is safer to use than most other melees. The downside is it is less powerful than other melee options and has a long cooldown period.

It kind of invalidates the laser whip/plasma thrower melee by being easier to hit with and much longer range.

Personally I think I prefer the chainsaw. The impact it does is disgusting.

Yeah, the plasma thrower, I just think of it as the laser whip because that is what it looks like. Chainsaw is also quite good. Pretty much all the melee weapons have their uses. The plasma thrower is kind of mediocre, but has the option of throwing a bunch of explosives like that other melee. It has a bit of flex, but I think the moonlight's wide slash might be more useful.

Is that what those stealth mechs at the BAWS armoury are using? I thought that thing looked awesome, but couldn't figure out what it was. Might give it a try if so...
