They're very all over the place in terms of style and quality, so you have to know what you're looking for and at with them.

The reason I have three different ones listed is because they all play incredibly differently.

Oh, also, New Gundam Breaker is bad.

Gundeam Breaker 1-3 are all fun, with them getting progressively more refined as the series went on. New Gundam Breaker tried to reinvent the series and failed miserably.

So uh... just because the games are in the same series of Gundam games doesn't mean they're of similar quality either.

If they come out with a decent mech game with single player and decent bot multiplayer like practice mode for the VR then that would be my favorite. Until then, only Armored core. I came across one with great mech customizing and parts but it was against big mutated creature things. Not machines.

Can't believe that I almost forgot two other mech games, which are definitely oldies. The first is MissionForce: Cyberstorm. And the other is Power DoLLS, a Japanese import that I think only ever managed one game officially released in English.

I'm just a fan of the Battletech games period

Have you ever read the books? Battletech has a pretty large amount of lore in the form of books too. Very good.

I actually have some of the older novels, from the Gray Death subseries, two of the Clan Invasion subseries, and even the one that features bonafide sapient non-humans (which is otherwise a big no-no in the setting's lore). Been a long while since I read them though.

Hawken was great fun, shame it died. I like battletech. I didn't play it much, and finding hard to find time to get back into it. But I liked what I've played. In general I like a more strategic angle to mech games. I don't often do action twitchy stuff, but I'm loving AC so far.

MASS Builder still has one of the best customizations I've seen and I'm happy someone mentioned it, main issue is the gameplay itself is not entirely there yet, but the next update seems promising.

I like the Front Mission games the most. They're TRPGs though, so completely different from Armored Core.

Robotech is bastardized Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada, and there's Macross games out there, just not in the West, which Harmony Gold probably has something to do with.

That said, Robotech: Battlecry was alright.

All about Brigador, baby. Looks like a twin stick, plays like Mechwarrior. Oozes atmosphere and style.

Was very fun to use dual arcade joysticks for that game. Felt like a flight simulator.

-Ghost In The Shell (on PS1) was also fun, because of the way you can climb walls and ceilings with the Fujikoma.

-Macross (forgot which, but was on PS1)
