Using the Weapon mount swap upgrade, putting a blade on your shoulder and a booster that has a short duration QB, you are able to Melee an AC/boss into a stagger, QB SWAP to other melee, and you can get that attack out as well (even a fully charged Pile Driver). Very fun, maybe not the most effective compared to just wielding a shoulder cannon but, I've beaten some of the harder bosses using this method.
I look forward to seeing it. Just finished the Sea Spider, and so far it's still two swords and the impact driver.
btw any good melee parts was discovered?
Does it wort loosing the sholder weapon or additional right hand weapon as well? I don't think so. But it somethat fun.
I actually sometimes go into the early missions and fist my way trought just for fun.
Example: Build ACS, Pilebunker, ACS broken, Switch, Sword.
That said, 4th and 5th gen games not only allowed you to use blades and pile bunkers in the right hand, but also perform dual attacks, with both melee weapons at once for massive damage.
Cool, but the swaps and workarounds take away from it. It's definitely not the same as overboosting constantly and swinging dual laser swords around.
There are other melee weapons that can work well with combining with weapon bays but it's all niche since a real target won't stand there and let you get close to bash him out... But bosses on the other hand have huge health pools and don't care.
Meaning you can take advantage of that overconfidence to stagger them to hell.
Also it seems like using melee automatically uses boost, which drain EN for each punch.
The enemy AC gets staggered or stun from such a heavy strike so to speak, that you can throw another one in. You being so durable you can tank hits for a while at least in that regard, but up against bosses their attacks are pretty nasty so you'd wanna avoid that.
