AMD driver timeout fix
Sometimes the game will start crashing due to driver timeout issue on AMD.
To fix it just disable ray tracing (the issue is NOT related to performance).

Any tips on fixing these crashes if ray tracing was already disabled? I'm getting consistent crashes when choosing "reload from checkpoint" after dying.

How do you disable ray tracing when you can't get to the settings? I'm starting up the game and then I immediately get the driver timeout message.

My current issue is occurring while in a mission, not quite the same issue you just described. I used to have immediate amd driver timeouts when booting the game, prior to even seeing the main menu, but this was resolved after updating windows and my video drivers.

Still have the crash in-game, though.

same issue. I start training mission then got my driver time out. Then every time I start up
the game, I get driver time out. I try to turn off ray tracing, it doesn't work.

Downgrade your graphics drivers to 23.7.2 and it'll work fine even with RT. The 23.8.1 drivers cause this issue, AMD need to update.

I'm having this issue now and I'm still on 23.7.1.

Thanks man! With this driver (minimal/driver only installation) I was finally able to complete the introductory mission. Previously I got the driver crash every time after a couple of minutes.

ok scratch that - had the error pop up again today when replaying the first mission...

Use ddu to wipe the driver completely. Then install the fresher one

man I did that like four times already with different driver versions - going back to the most recent one for now... 12 years without issues with NVIDIA cards and nothing but troubles after switching to the 7900XTX...

Locking the game to 60fps with vsync on has helped stability in booting. For reference I'm running an i9 9900k with a 7900 XTX at 4k. My suspicion is that I don't have enough wattage for my power supply as I'm running an 850w PSU in which it was said to be okay to handle, but I do have the sapphire nitro+ or whatever which can pull peak 600w so I've decided to keep it undervolted for safety reasons. Do you think that it's a wattage issue on your end perhaps?

Welcome to AMD.

How long after launch did you get yours? Are you sure you don't have the hotspot issue?

edit: 7900xtx/7950x Only have occasional driver crashes at initial launch due to max raytracing.

A better question is did you install the AMD gpu on the same windows install you previously had an Nvidia gpu ?

How about trying an uninstaller made by the actual driver manufacturer?
