How do you beat Balteus?
What's his weak point? What's best against his energy shield? Can a nimble lightweight core beat him? Let me know, game is fun but jesus christ, Balteus is my first hard wall

Plasma weapons work well for shields I think, or fast firing weapons.

I just watched a vid of some guy using two pulse cannons on arms, and two huge laser gun thingys on his back. No melee.

Just dodges his moves, and only uses his laser guns on his back when he staggers it.

Plasma weapons/Blade and good firepower. Spam Quickboost to dodge missiles and listen for the rocket launcher sound queue

Start of the fight fire back weapons, assault boost in for a melee and start dodging

There's a Pulse SMG in the shop that does more damage against the shield, even one of them can massively rip it down at point-blank.

But I kind of brute forced it with a middleweight so I'm not sure how to use a lightweight against it.

I attempted originally on a reverse joint legs which I think there's only one set at that point and they're lightweight, found it kind of rough. Switching legs helped.

Bubble gun feels like a scam with how horrible it is. and it is discouraging watching basically everything not a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ pulse gun that isn't an explosive deflect off the shield half the time. shotguns, charged line rifle, LASER CANNON.

Eventual victory was "♥♥♥♥ it, TWO laser cannons! With uzis!" and just meatwallling praying for the best.

I like melee, but I got sick of busting his shield with BUBBLE BLASTER, stabbing him once with the pulse blade, and having him already halfway across the arena before my second swing could hit him.

Man. Enemies really love having no meaningful stun time unless they are fodder, or "The gimmick is they stun for an hour".

Even the pushover test AC bounces back so fast you can't use a charged shot or swap your cooling down blade for a grenade launcher without them dodging the shot even with their meter still full red.

Meanwhile, the sweeper stuns so long that I could stop to reload when my weapons missed a stunned boss weak point from close range for the Nth time.

Explosive weapons and lasers to take down his pulsar shield. Keep your sword handy as this'll be (like almost every fight so far) the real damage dealer. Kinetic weapons won't do ♥♥♥♥ to his shields, and you'll be spending a pretty ugly portion of the fight whittling those off of him, so don't bother with weapons like that in your loadout. Missiles, a sword, and an energy weapon are the way to go here. This is a fight that demands maneuverability and good understanding of your AC's booster capacity and recharge. Conversely, this fight really tests either your reflexes or your patience to endure hits. The former is likely going to get you further than the latter in a fight like this.

His missile swarm is an absolute pain the ass to evade, so be ready on the dodge action to weave yourself in deep to break out of the trajectory of the incoming volleys. Don't prioritize attacking if the missiles are already deploying, otherwise you'll get chewed up real quick. Prioritize evasion when he deploys those missiles. His other big grenade shot is easy enough to dodge since it's unguided. If you don't wanna double up on missiles, a shield is handy for his gatling gun, otherwise you're just gonna have to strafe around his spray. This is a fight that needs patience. Don't cave into urgency to constantly chase him if it's making you susceptible to his attacks. He'll come to you eventually.

The rest comes down to timing and good judgment.

There's one in the shop, and a much more agile set acquired from completing one of the training programs. If you like fast, flighty builds, I recommend going through the program and getting those legs. The jump on those things is almost as good as any boost dodge.

I used bubble gun, quick blade, double 8x vertical missiles. Bullet hell dmg is ignorable as long as you avoid big chunk. Rockets MUST be avoided at all cost. Bubble down its shield, conserve blade and missiles, empty your load when it gets staggered. And don't forget to use assault boost and assault kick. These are a great tool for both attack & defense.

I killed him with Linear Rifle, Missiles and sword when he staggered. Bad build I think. His shield is meant for people to use the pulse thingies.
If the helicopter is the mini-Genichiro, this guy is an early Ashina master, LOL. This Sekiro guy will terrorize players during his entire career, LOL.
I still can't tell where is the skill in this game. I still feel forcing my way. When I die, pressing buttons bad, when I pass, pressing buttons good, LOL. Still can't dodge anything clean, always took chip damage. Only thing I noticed is that the AI wants to catch panic quick dodges. Balteus uses his bazooka for this. Never quick dodge in succession to the same direction or you'll be caught. Cleanest stile I could find is quick dodge->slide a bit->quick dodge do opposite direction (somewhat akin to 3gen bunny hoping). Once I could avoid his bazooka this way, the fight became much easier. His flame thrower I could not figure out how to dodge and just tried to stay away.

hey, thanks for the tips, guess I'll try the bubble thingies with shoulder laser rifles, if it still doesn't work... well, we'll see...

Same way you beat everything. Get speed, get energy weapons.

This isn't Armored Core, don't play it like it is. Figure out what the devs want you to do, then rebuild around it.

I timed my missiles so I was able to put pressure on it all the time and managed to close quite a few times to smack it with the sword

it is an intense fight

get the bubble gun for either arm, missiles or laser for shoulder and rush him down with assault boost and kick for a stagger, you get to dodge the flame swords when you boost beneath or above him, don't let him get distance between you and be mindful of your boost gauge like fr when that ♥♥♥♥ starts glowing get on the ground asap.
Benny_Profane Aug 25, 2023 @ 10:40am
For hand weapons I used the grenade launcher (which takes decent chunks out of the shield) and the bubble pulse gun. With this combo you want to line up your timing so that you let the grenade reload while the shield has a sliver left and chip away at it with the bubble gun. You can time it right so all your guns are loaded when the shield breaks and you unleash everything. I also found i was able to get a second stagger on the boss.

As for my shoulder weapons I was using missiles, which I think is less important, you can go with your preference. The main challenge on this guy is the shield, which I found my Grenade/Bubble combo worked well for.
