I don't know if it's as good as 4A, I haven't played it, but this game feels fantastic to me, just to counterbalance the random negativity/frustration.
This is my favorite installment in the AC series. Amazing game. Yes the boss fights have been modernized to Fromsoft standards, but there's still plenty of that old AC feel in all of it.
Most of the complaints I'd say are probably from people who played AC1/2/3/LR and already didn't like 4/4A. Since the combat in AC6 is far closer to AC 4 than 4 is to any of the previous titles.
But word of advice, I would be careful picking it up if you do not like spending time to learn a fight. I come from 10 years of Mythic+ wow raiding so wiping to a boss over and over has me numb already nbd lmao.
Edit: Based on your reply above though it sounds like it might not be for you if you already hold an opinion like that :P
Make "skill issue" comments and then follow it up by not knowing anything about the AC franchise at all. Genius 101 writing here.
I'm basically that second paragraph tbh. This is not the AC I remember. Way too modernized (too appease their specific niche fanbase.)
Movement is different, it feels like you are piloting juiced up hardballer from Lost planet series rather than NEXT. All melee weapons stop you for second similar to "donkey punch" no quick swipe with laser blade and boosting away in one smooth motion, "here comes my strong attack".
"Bossfights" you can hardly use your superior mobility. They can turn faster than you and their "cone of attack" is way bigger than it should be. Certain boss will nail you with its grenade launcher, no matter where you are if you don't quick boost when you hear the "attack in coming warning".
Rather than having certain weapons stagger you, you now have stun bar. Some weapons effect it more than others.
Nothing like For Answer, only real similarity are the parts which are almost identical to AC4 and For Answer. So you can get pretty close in cosmetics making your old NEXT, but the game is entirely different. Personally going in thinking "I liked AC X because X" is simply setting up yourself for disappointment. If you like armored core as series, you'll probably enjoy it. But if you enjoy specific armored core game for its certain feature sets, you are likely going to be disapointed with AC6, it has ALOT of similarities but plays differently.
but i just got off Ac4a and the resolution and performance was actually trash its nice to play an ac at 4k 120fps
