it does have some Souls DNA, that cannot be denied especially if you look at bosses. But I would not say this sits in the same genre as a Souls-like.
But other then that it definitely doesn't feel like a traditional souls game but I can't compare it to pervious AC games, I've played roughly 10 hours so far but thats from me spending time replaying missions and spending alot of time customising my mech but I've heard that it'll take between 15-20 hours but that is entirely dependant on your skill.
Some people have already played the same as me but not gotten past the second boss so it'll be a long haul for them since the bosses just get harder.
In Dark Souls it is VERY easy to avoid damage, and so you're punished very hard for not avoiding damage. Get hit, you die.
In AC6, avoiding damage completely isn't really possible, just too many bullets and rockets and attackers from all different angles. In AC6 it's more about applying the proper strategies so that the boss doesn't wear you down by the time you wear the boss down.
So imo it feels completely different to Dark Souls.
"This game isn't exactly what it used to be over 10 years ago so it's bad"
AC1 was great... when it came out. This is good now. It still feels like AC.
