Also, you can use your mouse's rebinding software as well. For example, my Logitech G software lets me map my side-buttons to the "1" & "2" keys, which I would then set these two ingame to use for left-shoulder, right-shoulder, etc. which allows me to use my mouse's side buttons to perform those actions.
It's typical indie game companies not knowing how a keyboard works. You can't bind simple stuff like capslock too.
I use "V" for melee specifically so its annoying to hit the key only to use scan.
