do we have to be online to start?
i'm preloading at my apt with internet, and then taking my pc to my apt without internet. will i have to connect to the internet after the release time in order for it to activate for me? or will i just be able to play in 10 hours? i already tried to tether my phone hotspot to my pc unsuccessfully. maybe i have a wifi pci-card or stick lying around in a random box to just use the normal phone hotspot. but i'm usually hardwired so idk if i still have one.

Traditionally, the pirate protection programs and DRM protectors do an online validation check on initial launch and then stop caring until an arbitrary timestamp.

Day 1 patches are also common, in this age.

i hate the future. even my gas-powered heavily electronic car won't function properly unless its perfect, i've found out, can't even replace the lights with different bulbs. guess i'll be playing ps2 at my new place until my internet gets installed and buy a car from the 60's.

yea preloads absolutely require internet for the unpack it does after the game has become released to play. So you're going to have to your computer on the internet at launch time tomorrow for first launch. Then you should be fine for offline mode.

this is the case, game checks with the steam servers that its released, without the internet for that check it will stay locked

Well, you have to be online to download for sure. This seems like a non issue.

and yes there will be updating to unlock game so yes you will need to get online in fact
