This gameplay demo has a section near the middle that shows a mission with allies:

Difficulty wise though it's different than Dark Souls.
The bosses are kinda similar since they have multiple phases and complicated attack patterns that you need to learn but AC doesn't have a dodge with iframes. You need to use the game's boost feature to physically get out of the way.
Missions have multiple check points that activate automatically instead of bonfires. Additionally if you die you can either respawn at the last checkpoint or visit the garage to adjust your mech's loadout. If your missile launchers aren't cutting it you can swap them out for something completely different like laser cannons or grenade launchers (assuming you purchased them before starting the mission).
To explain things in Dark Souls/Elden Ring terms you could swap from a strength melee build into a full caster without needing to visit somewhere to respec. AC6 expects and encourages you to adjust your build on the fly and gives you the freedom to do so.
Would be nice if you can hire them too, with additional cost.
Some games offer guest stars or 'pay a lot for a tag alone' semi frequently, some basically never.
All the important missions you have either no help. or they basically exist to die to show off how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it is to be dealing with the mission you are in (Hi old king. bye old king). And most of the games where hiring a tag along is optional, they often locked unique parts behind going it alone anyways.
All that said. One bit from the preview of chapter 1 footage really does sum up the attitude of people about you being a one man show, or "Came with friends, they ran away".
In gundam everyone screams "Aw ♥♥♥♥, it is a gundam!" even when the gundam gets shot in the back and flops through orbit basically unharmed. Because wow, they killed that one nameless fodder pilot real hard.
In Armored Core 6 as you breach the walls of a base infamous for never being invaded. As you are cutting apart an entire army on your way to fight the superweapon waiting for you at the end. As you are in the middle of cutting a mass produced mech twice your size in half... You will hear "They sent only one AC? Are they insulting us? One AC is a baby!"
In Last Raven. As you stand over the remains of suicide bomber skynet. Literally every other AC pilot in the world is dead... Except for the one kicking open the door shouting "Bet it was luck, idiot! I'm the best!" and does not admit you were actually good at your job until 2 seconds before the credits roll after you kill them too.
Nobody ever thinks you are dangerous to fight until they see the end credits looming.
