Closest analogue would be Ace Combat. Customize a machine to best suit your tastes or the parameters of a mission, then go blow ♥♥♥♥ up while NPCs chatter over your comms about how much you're blowing their ♥♥♥♥ up.

No, armored core has historically been closer to Overwatch. In fact the original game was basically just an overwatch clone with robots.
