Provided you don't overlevel, the enemies are as strong as you are. Overcoming that challenge is what draws a lot of people.
The game gives you many options to face that challenge, many of which will take some time to master. The mechanics the game presents are a mix of Soulsborne combat and some inventions unique to this game.
Soulsborne: dodge, parry, stance break / critical, grapple.
Crab: you need to manage shield heath and find new shields in the environment on breakage, each shell comes with its own offense and defense options.
And in contrast to the grim Soulsborne, this game has a lighthearted charm and humor that is very appealing.
I mean when you buy and Indie developed by a small team you adjust expectations accordingly, but this game goes above and beyond. I honestly cannot believe this Indie developer could make a game as good as this.
Also be prepared for crab/ocean puns.
This is a complaint that is not unusual; therefore: level with care or not at all, until the game becomes too hard.
I'm sort of addicted to Soulsborne and did not find it too easy, but I'm used to carefully not leveling too much for online purposes.
To be real though, I'm enjoying the game. But I am currently very frustrated with it. There is noticeable input lag and it's honestly worse some times than others, and there's no real way to tell how it'll be until you go and die to the boss the umpteenth time. The game is far harder than it needs to be because the controls themselves decide to bug out and fight with you.
That's also how I decided to maybe not buy death stranding, the hilarity of the reviews was entertaining enough :).
[edit] I either got used to the input lag or the game got patched or something but it's no longer an issue. Game's fun again.
