Snail Sanctum Hammer Question

When you use the snail sanctum as a hammer, does it count as umami damage or physical damage? Or some combination?

K, I did some testing. It seems like it does 0 umami damage, which... doesn't make sense to me. Like, it seems like a shell made of pure umami should do umami damage. I could be wrong, I may have missed something or done math wrong, but what I found points to no umami damage.

Well, maybe the game only counts "hammer" damage as raw physical, not magic.
