... But those laser crabs are awful, I agree.
I just killed them instead though because I have a personal rule that I have to kill every enemy at least once in a Soulslike game, but it was very tedious and frustrating (took me a while to figure out how to single them out so I wasn't getting attacked by 2 at once, or ganked by hypno fish).
If they didn't give anything, I would probably not even bother killing them.
If you explore the game a bit, at that point you have enough purple shards to have every skill and every adaptation maxed.
If you never explore anything, why are you exploring the part of the map that is the most difficult to explore?????
There are 1400 shard in total, I want to get them all because I love collecting in game stuff, especially in games like this, I am at 1358/1400 shard currently so I think I explored enough throughout the game.
They're more difficult to avoid than they are to fight one-on-one since if you can get behind them and slap their feet they have trouble reaching you. It's when they get their five buddies and cuttlefish mooks to back them up that it gets obnoxious.
I would even say that killing all the laser crab wouldn't even be my top 1 of the hardest thing in **this** game. I needed one or two try to kill all the laser crabs, I needed far more try to get the helmet shell.
Let's be honest. The game doesn't ask you to kill the laser crab, the area doesn't contain anything useful or really unique, so regular players only have to understand they should avoid them (and this is not the first enemy you should avoid in a souls-like). For completionists, the laser crabs are boring and dumb, but they are nothing special. Their only problem is that the level design should be more explicit that you're supposed to avoid them.
They are very easy to avoid using an ink cartridge shell.
or Mantis punch and whack them fast
