The game was so great, but then...
the huge crabs shooting laser beams appeared.

They are respawning every single time you rest in the snail, the beam is very difficult to dodge, there are 2 and 3 at once (no idea why devs didn't let you fight one at a time as an introduction, they went for 2 and 3 (or 4, not sure) right away for some reason with some other enemies around, especially the squid shooting homing missiles and hypnotizing you so you can't do anything).

Is there any reason why devs pumped the difficulty so much in this location, compared to every other location in the game ? I know it's supposed to be endgame location (I guess, haven't finished the game yet), but still, it's super high jump in terms of difficulty from the previous ones.

Solution: either delay their attacks a bit more (especially when fighting 2 or more at once so the second one doesn't laser beam spam you all the time) or just remove one of these crabs from the first group and 1 or 2 crabs from the second.

They are very hard to hit and also quite a bit difficult to dodge their attacks as well, so I guess that balancing these crabs a bit would be great... their HP is also crazy huge and it takes a long time to kill them, especially when 2 or more are focusing you, it's pretty much an instant death.

Ink Cartridge shell => Smokescreen => ignore enemies and continue to the next zone.

... But those laser crabs are awful, I agree.

I got the impression that we weren't meant to actually fight them and were supposed to run past them, hiding behind cover to avoid the lasers along the way.

I just killed them instead though because I have a personal rule that I have to kill every enemy at least once in a Soulslike game, but it was very tedious and frustrating (took me a while to figure out how to single them out so I wasn't getting attacked by 2 at once, or ganked by hypno fish).

I am trying to collect all of the purple shards in every location so I had to kill them even if I didn't want to lol.

If they didn't give anything, I would probably not even bother killing them.

They give you the purple shards so you are supposed to kill them and you can't use your surroundings when you are fighting them because there is always 2nd one who will join the fight sooner or later and you can't kill them if one is focusing you all the time and keeps spamming the laser beams. There are also those hypnotizing squids around them so that's also one of the reasons you can't stay behind cover.

Seriously, at that point of the game who cares about purple shards?

If you explore the game a bit, at that point you have enough purple shards to have every skill and every adaptation maxed.

If you never explore anything, why are you exploring the part of the map that is the most difficult to explore?????

Have you ever heard of 100% a game ?

There are 1400 shard in total, I want to get them all because I love collecting in game stuff, especially in games like this, I am at 1358/1400 shard currently so I think I explored enough throughout the game.

They're more difficult to avoid than they are to fight one-on-one since if you can get behind them and slap their feet they have trouble reaching you. It's when they get their five buddies and cuttlefish mooks to back them up that it gets obnoxious.

If you are a completionist, killing all the laser crab is far from the hardest thing I had to do to complete a game. The way to kill them all is plain dumb, but it wouldn't be on my top 10 of the dumbest/hardest stuff I had to do to get an achievement. I don't even think it would be in my top 100. And I'm not even a completionist - so I didn't even do the dumbest stuff you have to do in some games.

I would even say that killing all the laser crab wouldn't even be my top 1 of the hardest thing in **this** game. I needed one or two try to kill all the laser crabs, I needed far more try to get the helmet shell.

Let's be honest. The game doesn't ask you to kill the laser crab, the area doesn't contain anything useful or really unique, so regular players only have to understand they should avoid them (and this is not the first enemy you should avoid in a souls-like). For completionists, the laser crabs are boring and dumb, but they are nothing special. Their only problem is that the level design should be more explicit that you're supposed to avoid them.

They are very easy to avoid using an ink cartridge shell.

I completed the game on 100% and the laser crabs were the hardest thing to do...
