Fun fact, the thimble shell spell makes you fully immune to everything but grab attacks when you block for about 5 seconds

I think you guys might be wrong about the blue attacks being bugged..., unless they already patched that as of today, the attack *makes* a snapping sounds hit or not because the punch is breaking the sound barrier, but if you dodge it doesnt hit you, at least in my experience, It was hard but pretty fun for me, around 5-6 tries or so, spearfishing him to interrupt some nasty attacks and fill up the capsizing bar also helps a lot

if you equip the shark tooth the game becomes very easy

I just got the parry timing down for most of his attacks and used shell hammer for cap sizing him regularly. Only really trouble I had for him was his sandstorm attack having slight timings (sometimes it was instant and others it was slightly delayed) I actually found it easier to dodge into him during the punch attack to better capitalize on the opening that he leaves. So for sure doable just a hard fight but insanely fun.

Equip the sinker lure and the crab claw special to break down his poise, then you'll do massive damage, just have to have your dodging on point for phase 2. Having the crab shell on you can distract him with decoy and get some hits in also, but its better to keep the umami for the claw special attack.

I somehow missed this "optional" boss until i was level 57 and then just attack spammed him to death with a hammer.

I beat him through normal gameplay, no gun... Didn't parry any attacks either.

For his teleport attack he has two variations.
1. The variation that happens during the sandstorm
2. The variation that happens with no sandstorm

For variation one, you dodge to the left or right as soon as he appears.

For variation two, you dodge to the left or right a few moments after he appears (need to get the timing down) If you dodge at the wrong time, you won't have enough recovery time to time the dodge correctly the second time.

Now his other attacks:
1. His attack where he stands up straight then does some sort of combo punch followed by a big punch after:
As soon as he stands up, dodge backwards, then you will need to dodge back 1-2 more times after. Once you get the timing down, you can do the last dodge diagonally to his side to get an attack in.

2. His attack where he punches two times in a row in a cleaving motion:
For this one you want to dodge backwards for the first hit, then diagonally towards him for the second hit (to get an attack in)

He might have a 3rd attack but I don't recall what it is.

The big thing about this boss he requires patience, since he is so fast, you only get one to two good strikes in per opening. I used the Party Hat shell because the shotgun blast is very very strong.

I had way more trouble with the The Consortium and his gimmick because basically any attack he hit me with (except gun blast aoe) killed me instantly... I had to beat The Consortium flawlessly without taking any hits.
For the teleport attack 1, it has a very thight dodge window, but it's doable if you roll to the side right after he teleports. The teleport attack 2 is dodgeable too, but I couldn't get it consistently so I resorted to placing a bobbit trap in front of me, which stops him before he hits me. The normal attacks aren't that difficult to parry. Just remember that the parry stops the flurry attack but the big punch still comes after (which is good because you can get another parry in).
I used the stowaway that gives a bonus in staggering and chump to get hits in between so the meter didn't go down. You can beat him with an optimized build IMO.

Anyone else trivialize this (and most other) fights with Skedaddle and Ebb and Flow? I essentially just stand still and wait to be attacked the whole fight. Even if my timing is off I still get the benefit of dodging back out of trouble, and Ebb and Flow make you immune to damage while doing decent damage/stagger itself.

The blue attack is consistently dodgeable, you just have to wait until he appears before you dodge. If you dodge right when the symbol comes up you'll get hit every time.

During the sandstorm phase you can simply turtle up in your shell, or use the many crab husks littered around to drop decoys.

I just used the decoy shells like they left in the fight area

wheres this guy? I beat the game and never found him
You guys are getting spooked to much by sounds. His teleport punch attack has two distinct sound: one for the teleport and then the actual punch.

Same for his sandstorm attack, don't overreact (you can do that once or twice, but after that you should know better.

When you are at the village where the sniper crab was, go up there on the hill, there are a few hanging grapple points and then just follow the path up.

when you see him for the mantis punch-dodge right before he punches. Sound confirm-visual confirm-DODGE!

parry his turbo punches, and then the swipe that comes after

just block the tail swings

use decoys when low on shell shields

that was all i did. eventually got him

He bugged out on me and randomly died at half HP when he started his tornade attack... Kinda bummed because I wanted to beat him legit. I almost got him before that try too...

if you use the backstep ability unlocked in the way of the hermet dodging the blue ability becomes incredibly easy, it honestly makes the fight not too hard as all the other attacks are pretty fair or in your favour

I was able to deal a lot of damage against him by locking him in place with the Bobet worm adaption. (You obtain this in the sands Between tucked away in a grove filled with the nasty blighters)

Even with no Umami investment the adaption has a fairly potent snare/stun that lets you set up a painful charged attack.
