Difficulty vs Fromsoft
I've heard conflicting reports about this game's difficulty. Some are saying it's considerably harder than a Fromsoft soulslike, while others are saying it's considerably easier. What do you guys think? Just want to know what to expect before diving in.

I haven’t played, but difficulty will always vary from game to game. Plus the more of these you play the easier it is to attempt or adjust to these systems. I mean it’s really hard to replicate overcoming a challenge it’s not like dark souls is hard for vets anymore.

I've played a few souls like and to me this seems just the exact same. Just lose to your opponents and beat them after learning their patterns. I'd say if you enjoyed any souls like difficulty, you'll have the same overall good experience.

im a soulslike fan and ngl so far its pertty great
difficulty is there but idk i didnt get far

IF YOU hate it, there are accessibility options to make hte game easier
reduce enemy health / reduce their damage / increase durability of your shell and a lot more

so even if its hard for u u cna still change it and vibe with it
theres also a thing that makes u one shot bosses ifu h ate them

I've completed it now and i can say, it's much much easier than a FROM game, becomes on par with the last 2 bosses
You're not going to get a straight answer here - some people feel like they need to say it's easy in order to talk themselves up - but I saw someone who had hundreds of hours in elden ring and most of the achievements in DS1/2/3 having real trouble with the first boss of this game.

This game is *not* a pushover. If it's easier, it's close. I think it's as hard or slightly harder than the first half of DS3 - definitely harder than elden ring. To call this game "easy" is to be out of touch with what non-souls games are like. By the standards of other games, this is insanely hard. By the standards of dark souls, it's about normal, what you'd expect.

If you enjoy the difficulty of fromsoft games, you will not be disappointed - easier or harder, it's going to be close, if nothing else. It's very similar.

Its easier. Took some tries to learn the bosses (from one person's complaint, thought Nephro was gonna be tough but hes not terrible at all), the miniboss was both a surprise and fun to learn and take down (also easy, simple patterns).. its not hard, just tough.. rugged around the edges maybe

Nah dude, it's just super easier. Put a lot of MSG stat, strap on the 2 first skills in the game that are overpowered and you can blast trough anything

Being able to make a nuke build isn't something unfamiliar to FromSoft either. If you figure out a way to delete everything without it touching you, in this or in any other soulslike, then your commentary on difficulty isn't very meaningful.

Any Fromsoft game is easier once you've beaten it. It's the same thing here. The battles are "tough but fair", minus the occasional camera angel (same in FromSoft). Once you know the enemies' moveset and figure out its quirks, the battles become much easier. I'd still expect it'd take most people AT LEAST a dozen tries to get through certain bosses. And certain bosses I'm 90% sure you're not supposed to beat the first time you see them (think Tree Sentinel, from Elden Ring). It's fairly open world, and encourages exploration.

The big difference in difficulty, is this game gives a variety of "accessibility options". It's explicitly not how it was designed to be played, but available for those who don't find the default difficulty fun. One of the options gives your character a gun.

Biggest difficulty in this game is the camera and the bugs.

It's a typical souls like but with some nice accessibility options, so don't worry too much and if you get stuck on a boss, give them a nice lead injection.

"you can cheese it" isn't what we're talking about. it wouldn't be a true soulslike if you couldn't.

i'm talking about if you play it straight - level ATK and VIT, play by dodging and maybe parrying, do it the "normal" way - and this game is quite tough.
crisp rat Apr 27, 2024 @ 11:35am
dodging seems quite bad, and the bigger enemies can 2 or 1 shot you, i'd say this is on par with sekiro
Knight1500 Apr 27, 2024 @ 2:20pm
This games difficulty isn't from difficult to time attacks and parries. Instead it's do to there huge amounts of damage and huge health bars.

It depends on if you *want* the bosses to be comparably hard or not.
By the time you're 50-75% of the way through the game, if you're good with your stowaways, skill tree, and have upgraded adaptations, you can absolutely annihilate most of the later bosses - 2 or 3 attempts maximum. But if you *really* want more difficulty you could try fighting without a hammer/stowaways/adaptation usage/shell spells/etc..
I'm a big fan of all the Soulsborne games, and I think overall the bosses felt a bit easier, but I still had a ton of fun throughout. Really hope there'll be a NG+ and/or DLC.
