Anyone find ways to make it easier? Honestly if Elden Ring did not have terrain markers I'd still be playing it 😂.

I've been stuck in the unfathom for a few hours now. I have no idea where to go after you unlock the shortcut directly behind the place where you are revived
Sticking to the edges of the islands is a good plan for this. For the first area with the two big crabs I recommend turning right from the entrypoint and hugging that edge until you get to the luminous respite moon shell. For the second area with the four crabs turn left and hug that edge, which will lead you to the shortcut to the hermit's plateau moon shell. If you go to that shell and then run back to the open shortcut door, heading forwards/hugging the edge to your left will lead you to the path to the next island.

Thank you, you could even post this as a guide! No lay-of-the-land awareness needed, love it.
I hated this entire area and don't get me started on that area where you find the stainless relic between 4 rail crabs, various enemies, those mites and those hypno ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ all attacking you at once.

This area needs badly balanced.

There are too many things that stop you from killing those rail guns which you need to do to, because they have Umami.

I believe the high HP, damage, and abundance of cover and ink cartridges mean you 're supposed to sneak. However sneaking and running around got me SO *very* lost, like all the time, that I put the game in story mode and facetanked all the way to Inkerton. Then, back to hard mode, and the game made up for all the misery.

Move towards the pinball machine lights, and attack the glowsticks on the way. You can light up most of the map by doing this. And use the map as well as the compass.

Solid advice, thank you!
And the map & compass: that's my weak point and probably why I'm here asking for help. The places I've been before the age of car navigators 😂.
