Different builds?
Are different builds and RPG-like mechanics something we can expect?

Curious about this too. Wondering what replayability is like in its current version.

I'm maybe 20% through the game and "builds" are starting to become a little bit more apparent. At this stage, however, ATK and RES/DEF are king. I've picked up a bunch of stowaways and the best options are honestly ones that deal heavy damage and increase you're defensive capabilities. Dodge rolling is ass right now because of the input lag and the way the enemy can somehow catch Kril in an attack a few frames before it even begins, so you're best off blocking. Once you get the skill unlocked to recover shell health with attacks, it's really a no-brainer. Umami/spellcasting builds don't seem worth it so far as I've gotten into the game.

I almost exclusively dodge roll, but I agree that it's not as precise and that you can't depend on iframes as much as you could in a Dark Souls game. I'm still managing to get through it without much trouble, but I haven't progressed to the later parts of the game yet so we will see. I also use mostly ATK and DEF stowaways, though some of the spells are pretty fun so I'll weave them in during the fight.

I don't know if they updated the game, or if I just got used to it, but the controls are feeling a lot more reliable now and I'm dodge rolling far more successfully than I was when I first picked it up. There was a time when I would press a button and nothing would happen at all.

Wow, I've never had that happen to me (how annoying), but I did encounter moments where game play felt a bit laggy and delayed. Maybe this happens only in certain areas with a lot of stuff on the screen. Hopefully they will continue to improve with further patches

I've seen it complained about in other places. It may have been patched, or I fixed it by lowering graphics one day, and noticing an improvement the next. It has me questioning now whether what I was experiencing was input lag or not.
