no this one is really common, that's definitely licensed. there was one in a song i forgot, the crash bandicoot warped gate sound in the level hub area and one of the enemies uses a higher pitched rayman 1 trumpet sound iirc.
With all respect, you are not in a position to question whether the devs got the license for them or not. And just because a sound is stock does not mean you will hear it in most, many, or even more than just a couple of places.
yes i am in a position to question it bro do you think i need a special uniform just to ask a question?
also, you completely misunderstood why these sounds are common. these are very obviously taken from classic, commonly used sound libraries, so that's why they're common.. because they are, i mean that's the whole gimmick with the sound design in this game - not "because they're stock". not sure who you even replied to when you wrote that.
the only reason i'm concerned is because some very select sounds in here, which are used in very similair contexts as they are in the singular game titles they are from (such as the crash bandicoot warped gate denial sound when hitting a black fog wall in the level hub), do not seem to appear in any other projects besides those very specific titles - which is why it is somewhat likely they weren't actually part of these sound libraries.
in fact, after researching this topic a bit more, i am now relatively certain that the warp gate barrier sound was specifically made for crash bandicoot warped and is not contained in any public sound libraries, atleast that's what the evidence is pointing to - but i would have to manually check universal sound studios libraries to make sure.
Unfortunately, the sound file is missing, I think, so there's no way to know for certain. (FWIW the Wiki is out of date, that page doesn't list AntonBlast. It does, however, list Banjo-Kazooie; I have a rip of BK SFX, so maybe I can figure it out from there. It's likely the sound from the second idle animation, when Banjo stretches out Kazooie's neck in retaliation. Sound effect 2D in the rip, I think? That means it's not that one)
not sure which one the one you're linking is supposed to be - but i would be more interested in the sounds that are from crash bandicoot: warped, because i believe those sounds (For example the 'warp gate barrier' sound) were almost certainly specifically made and licensed for the crash bandicoot franchise. however, there is a possibility it is available in the "universal studios" sound libraries.
they also originally used the crate breaking sound from crash bandicoot from what i've seen in older gameplay - but that one seems to have been removed, maybe because that one was so iconic that it didn't slip under the radar? there are some leftovers however. all the crash bandicoot noises i can currently think of that are possibly not licensed are the sliding, clock engine-like noise from the n. tropy boss fight, aswell as the warp gate barrier sound.
i'm only so interested in this topic because i am genuinely somewhat concerned and if possible want to help the people who worked on this game to not get in trouble.
EDIT: Found these sound effects:
https://soundeffects.fandom.com/wiki/Sound_Ideas,_HIT,_CARTOON_-_DRUM_RISE,_HIT_AND_WIGGLE
https://soundeffects.fandom.com/wiki/Hollywoodedge,_Rapid_Clicking_Boin_CRT018705
Apparently the "boing" there is identical across all three.
EDIT2: Pitching up the BK sound, it does sound similar. They're quite possibly slightly modified versions of the same sound or two related sounds. Specifically Banjo-Kazooie's version seems to be at ~50% of the original pitch. If this can be confirmed (and the original verified) it might be worth adding to the Wiki.
You're don't need to worry about anything, really. All the sounds have been cleared for use.
Oh thanks for finding the crate sound - are you sure about the other sounds though?
how?
yea i mean that's why i made this thread.. so hopefully one of the devs says "nah it's fine"
