Are the devs fans of Cow and Chicken?
It's just this game's aesthetic feels very similar to the works of David Feiss. Especially with this game's villain being a flamboyant devil.

During an interview someone did with RK at PAX he cited Cow & Chicken as influence, as if the Red Guy parallels aren't obvious enough

Surprised. Would've assumed Ren and Stimpy (Then again due to John K's.....antics, it's hard to enjoy the series again).
There's also some pretty strong influence from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (Satan absolutely reeks of Milton Knight's glorious Robotnik design) and Ed Edd & Eddy.

Also see influences by the works of Bill Kopp (Eek! The Cat, Toonsylvania, Mad Jack the Pirate, the Third Pig episode from Tales from The Crypt)
It's obviously based around 90s animation styles

R&S is one of the few cases where "separate the art from the artist" is a viable response instead of being an excuse to give morons money
