How to survive Klaphat trees?

How do you survive meeting a Klaphat tree?

Klaphats always one shot you, so the intended way seems to be to have the 3rd Axe upgrade which makes it so you can't be knocked out while your special ability is active.

Since that's basically impossible to unlock currently, you have 2 options: Use your origin ability to destroy them, or use your axe special to chop them down before they flatten you. If you're using your original ability, eat a Dream Sac for Lucidity V to reduce cooldown reduction by 50%. If you're going for your axe special, eat anything that gives tree chopping damage so you're guaranteed to chop them down in 2 hits.

I'm playing Rouge so just save my ability for them.

If you power up your Axe and get real close under them you should be able to get them down in two chops before they splat you.

The powerup of the first axe + running close around them while smacking them works really well. Just avoid the slowing plants around them.

You can also run around them in a circle, wait for them to attack, and you'll have enough time for 1-2 attacks before you have to start circling again.

Their turnspeed is really slow and the attack takes a few seconds to charge up.
So you just run at them chopping and go in circles while still continuing to chop while you move.

If you consume a Dream Sac (Potency 4 Mind Ingredient) your axe special will charge faster than its active time, meaning you can use it continuously all day.

Eating a gusto grub or life lemon will also give you a knockout-resistance buff which stops klaphats from insta-killing you.
