How to connect?

Starting the game. Built the crate. Says to connect to machine, but doesn't tell you HOW to connect it.

So I seem to have the output for the crate pointing at the machine and 1 square away (it wont let you put it closer). I select "connect" in the crate actions. But from there I cannot seem to connect it to anything.

So 5 min into the game and I'm already stuck. This is a good way to anger new players.

When you make a tutorial, maybe make a tutorial for the tutorial?

Hey Razter

Just under the world clock in the top right corner of your screen are two buttons. One is a pin. If you click it, it opens your quest tracker.

In the quest tracker, there is a question mark. This opens the help box which should tell you how to connect workstations.

That being said, I agree we can make this simpler - and we will.

That's the thing, it does NOT tell you how to connect (as I've already stated). When I try to initiate a connection, I get the red cable/plug icon but I cannot do anything with it. I've tried selecting the machine it wants me to, but nothing.

It sounds like you have a bug somewhere.

Can I get you to confirm if your quest tracker works as I explained? Just so I know if that is bugged too.

The way it SHOULD work with the workstation connections:

1) Stand close to workstation next to a connection point
2) Click workstation
3) Choose Connect
4) Click workstation again
5) Walk to another workstation while facing a connection point
6) Click new workstation.

If this does not work, it must be a bug we haven't see before.

I ended up having to go find a Youtube video to figure this out.

Some of the confusion is that you have to be REALLY REALLY close to anything you interact with in this game....like right on top of the location. So this caused me to think I couldn't put the crate right next to the machine, even though I was close to the machine.

These interaction ranges are waay too strict and limited. This also applies to talking to npc's.

I would also add that in the video I watched, he was also having a lot of trouble with this connections thing too.

I'm stuck on this as well... past the tutorial quest, but the bottle thingy gives an error and doesn't pick up the bottles and I can't seems to figure out what is wrong.

Got it now worked after several tries, but no idea why it works now and didn't before.

If you're talking about the bottle maker it only accepts glass from one side. The other side accepts ingots.

Just in case someone else has the issue with the quest not updating...
I took both of my set ups apart and put them back together. It finally updated then.

This tutorial is broken for m as well. Nothing I do fixes progression.

The quest for connecting Workstations, has recently been revamped to have much more lenient checks. If you have a setup that you believe should work, but doesn't, please post a screenshot here or in our Discord-channel for bug reports, so we can describe the bug or identify what we haven't communicated properly <3 The quest completes for us, regardless of the order in which we build things, so we need your help to find out what's wrong.

I have this problem too, the solution was to put some distance (1 square) between the extractor and the bottler and then I must be in the side of the extractor where the output is facing (not to the right/left side) then I could make the click in the extractor in the connection mode.
