the keyboard works, and the steamdeck controls work but connected controllers do not

The game's fully playable on my end, but for some reason, I can't see the girl's sprites appear in my game while I'm playing it, as if she's turned invisible. Her sprites and some sprites for the first boss seem to be like this for me, but everything else in the game shows up fine for me.
