Cattails mysteries (SPOILERS for main story)
Upon defeating and either forgiving or banishing the wildwood champion, what kinds of questions did you have regarding the story of cattails: wildwood story and what comes next or possibly..what happened before the events of the main story?

Here are some general questions to theorize about:

1. The biggest one for me personally, is what happened to the humans in the world. We know they existed in the last game and are the very reason the first player character came into the wild. Did the wildwood champion make them disappear when they destroyed the wild cats original home? That seems far too powerful for even the champion to accomplish on their own..Or did the humans abandon the earth entirely? Ultimately, its not too important to the story. The humans are gone because it gives a reason for the cats to develop their own society and forge their own destiny independent from them. Still, if Cattails ever decides to do a post game content update or add dlc in the future, that could be one of the topics to explore after the main story.

2. Related to the first point: what happened to the other domesticated animals? Did they become feral like the cats did? I can just imagine that there are droves of wild cattle roaming aimlessly about..perhaps some are guarded by former farm dogs, who have adopted the ways of livestock and farming from their human companions. I cannot help but imagine the cats coming across a friendly border collie one day after the ruins are all purified who came to the region upon learning it was safe for the livestock to graze on. And in exchange for allowing them passage, the border collie shares items such as eggs, wool, and feathers for you to gift/eat..perhaps even selling you accessories like a straw hat or farm furniture.

3. Wild animals!! Of course we see the prey animals all the time..but what about the larger animals that the cats can't eat? Like deer or foxes? What have they been doing now that the humans have gone? This could be explained by the way the Wildwood is infested with hostility..but after the main story it would nice to see them come back and repopulate the region. Making the wildwood feel more complete and alive by the end of the game.

Personally, I think nothing really happened to humans. I know it's a boring answer, but the most reasonable in my opinion. They're just out of the picture as the game is not about them. They probably think the original place and wildwood are just random forests. The calamity seemed to be small in scale, as even most cats in the area seemed to survive it + wildwood champion only targetted the cattails colonies, very unlikely it killed any humans.

Elli mentions living with humans for a time, and while Glimmer isn't... CORRECT on a lot of their assertions, certain dialog suggests observing humans (the dialog about the mouse being a pet beloved by humans in particular seems to suggest this).

These make me think that nothing really happened to humans, they just left the area.

These are interesting ideas. I think that either the humans are gone (Jag mentions the terrible earthquake) in that region, or perhaps there was some devastation that destroyed humanity. I do get the impression that humans have ceased living in that area for at least a long time in CAT terms. Considering that cats live shorter lives in the wild, let's say 20 years would be many generations past and so passed on knowledge could get twisted or forgotten, etc. But I like the idea that humans are out of the picture; maybe cats have evolved in this world, which would explain their humanlike traits. (Sort of like Planet of the Apes). A lot of the cat lore reminds me of Watership Down as well, this idea of interpreting the world through their eyes. Identifying the museum artifacts is one of my favorite parts because of their unique understanding of how we interacted with the material world.

i have a theory that the humans were exticnt. we know they UESD to live on earth, and that its not another timeline were cats are the... whatever humans are, becuse of glimmer and their curios, so i think they went exticnt! maybe a metiour, like the dinosoars, or (more likely) a plauge.
