Pools of Radiance Dead Character

While exploring Phlan with new party, I entered a tavern and immediately got into a brawl. One character was killed, but others escaped. I do not have enough gold to resurrect. Is there a way to adjust the character to "Okay", or to replace the character with a new character?

With Gold Box Companion, you can Encamp-Fix. Then encamp and the character is miraculously resurrected.

Tis cheating. Bury your character and match on. Perma-death!

Just take them out of your party. Roll up a new character and add them to your party.

Pool of Radiance has a bug where if you target a fallen body in combat with a (low-level) Magic Missile or Cause Light Wounds spell, it will damage them, as if their hit points were 0, and KO them with the Skull-Death icon, taking them to Dying status if their hit points are -9 to -1. This will reliably turn Dead characters into Dying characters, letting you bandage them and heal them up after combat.

This bug was patched out in the other Forgotten Realms games.
