While I do agree that it is a little annoying that some decks have esclusive mechanics (like de Overdress/XOverdress mechanic) what matters is what the deck is trying to do and how they archive that, Bastion is a really simple deck, have a board of powerful units that can make 4/5 attacks to overwhelm the opponent.
Gravidea on the contrary can only (as of 22/01/24) do a 3 fights at max, but has the ability to wipe the opponents board using "Set orders" and can OTK if not careful.
Its alright to take your time understanding the mechanics of the game playing with the NPC´s
after playing the game more, I think that I have finally learned how this game works.
this game is something like yugioh's polar opposite:
in yugioh each round is confusing as ♥♥♥♥ due to the giant combos, but at least it does not take too long to read the manual and memorize the mechanics.
in this game each round tends to be somewhat simple, but figuring out the many MANY mechanics of this game is a huge challenge.
I did some mistakes at first and I couldn't understand what was I doing wrong, like putting 2+ grade cards in the backrow and wondering why they are not boosting my other unit's cards.
also I have learned most of the game by now.
Cause not only do you have to remember your vanguard effects and when to play them, you got to learn your rearguard effects and how to combo them to get even greater plays. Its difficult but rewarding when you strike a combo with your crafted deck and deal major damage.
I originally did some mistakes like putting rank 2 and rank 3 cards in the back row and then I had no idea why they didn't boost my minion's attack.
I had to read the instructions for quit some time and replay the tutorial again.
anyway, I have understood the game now.
learning the basics in this game is a bit harder compared to other card games that I have played(yugioh, eternal, hearthstone and krosmaga are the other card games that I have played).
you want convoluted mess go play yugioh or magic then come back here and tell me how this game is confusing and complicated
it's very easy to step into the game creating your own custom deck is where mastering the game comes to play but you can slowly walk towards that
