If someday they release Samurai Warriors 2 on steam, I and most people will agree (just search on this forum) strongly recommend you to play it, unless you prefer the changes in most newer musou games, if so just stick to the latest ones.
For SW character, you need to hold the musou button for them to perform their musou. They'll keep attacking until your gauge is empty, unlike the DW characters (if you didn't know that already).
I haven't played all the ones in WO3 yet, but Yukimura Sanada is by far my favorite one. He's just a killer machine that racks upso much combo numbers that an aggression build makes Gaulent purple red stages so easy to do that feels like cheating. lol
From WO3, so far, I recommend Tadakastsu Honda (he's just a beast, Lu Bu from Japan basically), Yukimura Sanada, Yoshimoto Imagawa (he's weird, but with a good build and getting the right feeling, he's a beast), Kyomasa Kato and Keiji Maeda.
From my experience with WO1, I'd also recommend Ranmaru Mori, Mitsuhide Akechi, Kotaro Fuma, Kanetsugu Naoe, Masamune Date, No, Hideyoshi Toyomi and Musashi Miyamoto.
They are all good if you like their move sets / specials. I wouldn't recommend them for a musou build, unless you want to cheese with invulnerability and infinite musou, but tweaking a bit, you can find all characters can be enjoyable to an extend.
(to note, I'm also a DW nerd lol)
