How do I stack the bonus for maps?
Supposedly if you run a map which is the same as your level you get a 20% bonus and the bonus stacks ten times. I'm on level 152 and I"m running Sandy Gardens 152 map so I think I should get a bonus for completing. I've run this map for 20 minutes. The attack bonus should stack ten times but where would I see this? I don't see it or feel any big attack bonus here or on level 152. Either it doesn't work or I completely misunderstood what I'm supposed to do and how the game should act.

Okay we need to clearly define some things.

First of all there is the "world" and then there are "maps".

The world is what you're trying to climb, and the maps are there to help you gain resources for your climb.

When you complete a map that is the same level as your world you will gain a 20% damage bonus in the world on that level, this stacks up to 10 times for a total of 200% increased damage.

For example. You arrive at world level 100 and then create and enter a map that is also level 100. Every time you complete the map you will gain a damage bonus of 20%, this bonus applies in the world BUT not in the map. You have completed the map 10 times, you have earned your maximum damage bonus for completing maps. You exit the map and fight up the world with a 200% buff to your damage. You kill the boss on the final cell of world level 100 and you enter world level 101. You no longer have the damage bonus, you need to enter a map at the same as your world level (101, now) and you will be able to build up the bonus again.

In ideal circumstances you don't run a map more than 10 times. Sometimes a helium challenge will give you a reason to run maps more than 10 times, but 10 times gets you your bonus on the world. In less than ideal circumstances, you have reached as far as your helium can really take you right now, but you can stay in a map a bit longer to try and get more item levels and maybe squeeze one final world level out of your run.

Most of the time you're playing this game you should be starting a new run everyday, or as often as once every 3 or 4 hours.

It's nearly NEVER worth spending more than a couple of hours stuck at any point... The amount of time it will take you to break through to the next section, you could have restarted 5 or 6 times and be A LOT stronger.

"Either it doesn't work or I completely misunderstood what I'm supposed to do and how the game should act."

This is true, you're misunderstanding something fundamental about the game which is that any given run is impermanent. You're pretty much always better off starting a new run than spending any real time trying to get a little more distance or helium out of your current run.
i know this is old, but i wanted to say thanks for explaining it all so clearly, gave an award and my thanks

Caveat to new people; almost always restarting when you don't get anywhere for a couple of hours is only true once you get quite a ways in the game. For your first several runs (a run being from start to the next portal), starting over will take many hours to progress to any permanent reward. So farming some resource in a map for a couple (or even several) hours is totally fine if you are moving towards a goal such as finishing a challenge or unlocking a challenge, provided you are close before the game bogs down. If you are new. the new player guide gives really good advice on your first few runs after which you will start to get a feel of how long it takes to get things done. Use the guide!
