Sounds like you're in a worse spot than me :P
From what I can see, I've done 665 portals total, and 261 of those were in U2. Which number did your 561 refer to??
And maybe you were joking, but I still like the game. I just think that with the benefit of hindsight and now my own experience playing it, there's plenty of things that could be improved about the gameplay loop.
I actually really enjoy U2, since it's simply different from U1 and lacks all the annying features U1 had, like Nature, where you had to be sure to use the poison zones to get good enough equipment so you can push to the next poison zones ... and those green helium upgrades are also quite annoying, since you have to buy soo many compared to the other upgrades. I really prefer the compounding upgrades, where a single level always has a lot of value.
I guess the part before archeology and the next heirloom tier maybe really was a little bit slow, but in general I really enjoyed the quagmire time, since I didn't had to pay much attention, I simply had to start it and after a while it was finished so I could restart it. I mean, I play an idle game because I like idling. And as long as it still feels like I make progress with every run that's totally fine. Though it also felt like SA is extremely important to be able to push further in U2 ... since SA gives quite big rewards.
And going back to U1 regularly to do dailies always felt like a mistake to me. With all the new buffs that you find in U2 you can get so much more Helium in U1 that the helium amounts you got before are basically nothing in comparison. So going back regularly doesn't do much compared to doing one run later where you simply get way more. It just slows you down in U1, which in return means that it takes longer until you get the bigger bonuses for U1 as well. I think I even did one helium run where I got x1000 the helium I had before.
I only went back to U1 like twice so far, to boost the C² numbers. And sure, obviously also doing a few quick helium runs in preparation. But now my C²s are mostly black, so I only have to redo a handful of them in the future, since the rest sits in front of the obsidian.
This is probably my main issue. I don't really feel like I'm making any gains and haven't in weeks. I got a whole bunch at once and now I'm on a progress drought where I just cross my fingers to get more than 200b radon so I don't feel like the run is wasted. When I read about when to start archaeology, the suggested radon ranges from 2/4T all the way up to 10T. I'm probably another week away given how long these farming runs are taking.
I haven't been back to U1 to boost my C2s, I felt like I needed a bit more progress in U2 so I could push the obsidian back to at least reach the next spire. I did go back at one point and do a daily and I did get a huge boost (probably not 1000x) to my helium. This said, is helium doing anything for us in U2? I really don't know.
Also, the number of portals you have done vs your your current zone has made my blood run cold, lol. How long have you been playing Trimps for in general? You must have brought your save from the browser, or I'm playing insanely inefficiently, lol.
Helium might be useless for U2, but with more helium you can get better C² scores, so still quite useful. And since the C³ are multiplicative they obviously also matter a lot. Though I guess the really big U1 buffs only really happen once you crossed Zone 100.
And yes, I used to play on the browser, but I also did something like a 2 or 3 year break. Also, just for comparison, I have 1377 U1 portals. So I guess in total I have close to 2900 portals. And I think that nowadays the U1 progress is a bit smoother than it used to be back when I played. Back then Magma wasn't even a thing yet ... the same with the map at zone feature. Maybe I'm just too terrified from my experience of having no map at zone feature available so that now these fully automated quagmire runs just seem like heaven to me? idk ...
My quagmire runs, set up to touch them as little as possible take about 5 hours to complete, can be close to 6 with great luck on void maps. Can be cut down to 4 hours if I babysit a little, but like I said... Sometimes 5 hours is 100b, a wasted run, or half a good run, you know so that 10 runs isn't a guarantee. besides, I need 10T from what I can tell to be farming on archaeology, I probably did my first two runs to completion too early, Auto Gold+ is dumb, lol. So more like 80 runs. Obviously if I keep speccing into Radon type perks it will come quicker, but I'm bored, lol. It's taking a lot of will power not to cheat with save editor to skip this grind, or just quit playing outright.
Have a good day everyone!
a joke, but a bit of a truth^^
i am U1 portal 1436 and U2 Portal 573 (3700h playtime xD)
