after beating lvl 40 all is back to normal. just your helium is doubled you got until this point.
it would also be good to do this challenge a few times. ;)
edit:
you can also run a normal map before. each time beating a enemy on a map you reduce the counter by one.
this is how i did it. removed all counters beat the void map and rebuild the counter.
Pit boost = 1.5x over reg dmg ..balance adds 2.35x, so 3.2525x total.
I'm at level 31, so just got 2nd gymystic and supershield VII. With only 1 pt in the supershield, I'm at 35.1B block, which is as good a ratio as I'm gonna get....
Wiki says lv 31 cthulimp on Pit = 95.4B dmg minimum...with the balance difficulty mutiplier that's 224.2B dmg.
I'd need something like 20 levels of supershield (at the moment still better than gyms alone) just to reach THAT, and that would surely not be enough to get past the voidsnimps.
Or, drain the balance as you suggest but that's not gonna get me enough life to fill the gap either. Even waiting for 10 levels of shield is tedious, and it's ultimately a waste to put in more than 5...
It doesn't seem worth it in any sense to pour all the time and resources into that for a bit of extra helium, when I could pour far fewer resources in to just push another few levels past 40 after balance is over, earning the same helium that way.
It makes a lot more sense to get past the balance challenge first and then do the void map. Will still get the helium and heirloom, and it won't be nearly as tedious.
N.B. a Descent map (only 0.5x more difficulty) would be a different story, I've managed that reasonably..
your math has one mistake in it. this is why i wrote you can run before a normal generated map. this kind of map where you farm your "blurprints" to unlock new equipment buildings and so on.
each time you beat there a enemy your counter reduces by 1.
so the balance would be decrease to 0 if you slay enough.
this means no bonus dmg or bonus life for enemys on the void map.
but you have also right. the higher your final map if you do void the higher the helium you get. right now im at a point i need the items more than the helium. this is why i do my voids maps normaly instand i get them. the only one i keept so far was the lvl 50 void map because you unlock at lvl 50 something extra ;)
for my gamestyle it feels way better to reset the counter from time to time to 0. i get a lot of new more powerfull equip. new buildings (like houses) and rush faster. i think i was able to do this challenge some hours faster with more resets to zero.
im also nearly at early game. so at lvl 27/30 i need every 2-3 lvl to reset to 0. build new equip. push again and reset 2-3 lvl later to 0 again.
if i have a void map i do it in some of the back to zero cycles before i start pushing again.
And you need ~130-135 gyms to get about the same amount of Block.
For obvious reasons you should get Z40´s Gymystic and the speed uprades and save up 250 stacks (do the last map on Z37 or something like that).
Also save up Trimple of Doom until then to double your resources.
If waiting that long is too slow for you, I guess doing them on Z41 is faster due to the +135% enemy damage modifier ending.
They have about the same attack, but together with the extra Coordination (Get Wormholes if necessary to reach maximum number of Coordinations, it should be worth it, also Z40+ maps drop the UberHotel uprade), I think that should make Void maps on Zone 41 quite a bit easier. Yes, you´ll get less Helium, but better Heirloom chances as consolation.
