Xiao Hanguang "Ending" Pun Intended BIG SPOILER

Hello i was doing a "good" ending but im curius i already finish the game once , but is it possible for Xiao Hanguang not to Die at the hands of Mowen on top of the Ice Mountain ? i know that is a "fated" duel and all but still...i did ask google but the "ai" response was a bit strange because i could swear i did that on my 1st playtough not 100% sure. but still help

To save Xiao Hanguang, you must complete his specific side quest by traveling to Mingjian Manor to meet him before the Shaolin Duel. The quest involves a spar for a claim to the sword, after which Ouyang Heng leads Xiao Hanguang to unseal it, and he subsequently invites you to accompany him to Tianjian Sect.

Xiao Hangguang will always Die, you are only able to change when/where that happens.

Either at Buddha's Hollow (along with Di Zui losing his arm and permanently leaving the party) if you didn't do the side-quests and also learn bodhidharma's scripture.
(if he dies here you actually get Whaleslayer which is neat i guess but by that point you'd have the snake polis and zhenwu swords)

Or atop Mt. Tianshan after the Buddha's Hollow arc.

to be honest, I think it's better for him to die at Buddha Hollow. It's just better narratively
