Are the legacies worth the inherit point cost?
Primarily on the higher difficulties looking to do an extreme run and wondering if I should grab one or just spend the points on martial arts/manuals/blueprints?

So, Highland Warfare Doctrine is so good it's the reason that spears went from "worst weapon in the game" to "best weapon in the game". Get that and the Supreme Blaze manual and you can tear through the whole game on Extreme.

Even besides that most of the legacies are really solid. Tianjian Swordplay let's you finish a build you can't actually finish in the base game, Mara's Six Faces has some nasty tricks, etc.

Just make sure you get the Supreme Blaze manual if you're playing on extreme.

Sounds good! Appreciate it!

not sure how many times you've played or intend to play
the first time you take on extreme, the game feels VERY challenging, but if you earn inheritance points via the few endings (either good or bad), you end up with a pretty insane amount of inheritance points
at that point, playing the game becomes something of a custom difficulty / Quality Of Life run

as watashiwa said, the blazing cultivation makes the game significantly easier, cause your teammates suddenly have a nice massive aoe nuke they can use at the start of every fight (dont forget to take the light cultivation manual with it, it combos with blaze)

when it comes to the actual legacies... they are all relatively unbalanced, and meant for some kind of roleplay in my opinion?
there are like 3 that can make your MC so powerful he can probably solo the entire game without any difficulty, even on extreme.
the others, as i mentioned, are more for roleplay? something to spice up the game while also dumbing it down.
(also i have heard people defend the tiajin sword palace legacy, and i just dont get it. it seems horrible to me?)

Legacies are very overpowered, all of them are capable of defeating the final boss on Extreme 8 Quirks difficulty. Of course some of them are far better than others which is shown by how much inheritance points they cost.

Jade Dragon's Legacy is obviously the most overpowered one and utterly trivialises the game and its bosses which is why it costs the most (also make sure to inherit the three polearm moves since they don't come with the legacy).
Tianji Palace's Legacy is also overwhelmingly strong with 3 Enclosures Force and the Tianji Swordplay, there's actually a way to get 100% damage immunity with this legacy.

Supreme Blaze (the cult method) is also an absolute must inherit whenever starting a new game even if you're not getting a legacy since its the only red cult manual that can be learnt by everyone and the fact that its obtained so late it's not too helpful at that point, it also utterly neutralises Bai Weiyi since SB grants immunity to Frost and Ignited which are 2 of the 3 debuffs that Bai depends on to deal out damage and his special debuffs, combined with Five Immortals or the Polis Sword (poison immunity) and you've completely neutered Bai's Timeless Seasonal Method.
