Is this the "point-of-no-return" in the main story?? (spoiler)

So I accidentally progressed further into the story without completing a bunch of side-quests that I wanted to do.

MAIN STORY SPOILERS BELOW

Now I am stuck having to go to Xuanhuo Hall to defeat Xuan Li, leader of the Xuanhuo cult. And bloody heck he is overdosed with drugs and so strong that my entire party got wiped (say no to drugs kids).

So I thought, oh boy there's no better time than now to go back to the main region and do my other quests but NOPE, the game doesn't allow me to even leave through the Valley of Dragon Slumber (passage back to the starting region) because game says "I need to rescue Yao Ji ASAP". Except Yao Ji here is just chilling in my party at the moment, so ????

Should I just surrender and retreat from the wulin and into the shadows with my entourage of ladies now j/k

Yeah. You need to finish this up before you can go back to the main map. At this point, you should be decently equipped, especially with the equipment drops you get after beating the masters. Use your Wind and Cloud method, it will save you and defeat the others. What I did was lure the enemies on the left side towards me, while I had my other allies just kill off the minions or lure them to me so I can kill them with the Wind and Cloud technique and my Tai Chi swordplay. However, I still kept the boss's attention towards me while I fought them off. Well, mainly because I can quite easily evade his attacks with some of my sword skills and investment in the Girdle meridians.

Thank you for your suggestion. Sucks that I have no other option but to clear this boss fight first, one way or another.

Maybe grind a bit more with real-time mode to level up my other weapon skills, because man, I was using fists and even after clearing all the mobs with my entire party versus Xuan Li, he was still dishing about 2k+ damage per hit (and his qi bar fills up so fast).

Ah. Yeah, maybe grind some more to gain some Martial points to upgrade your Cultivation skills to get more Meridian points, or weapon skills as you said. Don't forget to get some from your team via consulting them. Also, fists? Oh man, I recall some people said that fists are underpowered in this current build of the game.

Also, the items that Yao Ji gives you, the food, use them. They may help turn the tide a bit in the first few rounds.
