It says exactly what they want in the observe menu (under the chat), whether it be weapons, consumables etc...
Example: Bai Jin, the guy standing at the entrance to Luo Village (the 2nd village you visit in the main quest).
Maybe they're trainers that you unlock later in the game?
Hi gilith! Thanks for your question! Raising the affinity of your companions will have to be done by gifting them items that they "like"!
For other characters, sometimes they will not raise their affinity until they recognize you as a powerful martial artist, so you will have to raise your stats and strength, or complete their side quests accordingly!
Hope this answers your question!
Cheers,
DC
I had a situation where the guard of the starting village - after his relationship had risen to 60 - wouldn't accept gifts that he normally WOULD have accepted before (like the weapons I bought and gifted him). Why is this the case?
Thanks!
DC
