Unfinished Business
I'm not quite done with the Echoes update but I really like how the update's connected and expanded on so many of the game's hanging threads. The Five Balances Sutra was mentioned to be connected to the Perpetual Sanctum, and in Echoes you can get a super version of it. The little thief girl in Pingkang has a longer storyline now and so does the guy from Chenghuang Temple. Shang Tingzu can heal Yuwen Yi's friend in Liao City, and you two can handle the Xuanhuo Pill issue more thoroughly.

I'd like to ask: what else people have found in this update, or in Southern Chronicles, that wraps up stories from earlier in the game? And also is there anything that the devs missed?

So far in my playthrough I think I've found two plot threads that didn't get resolved:
1. The Healthcare Method; the doctor who gives it to you says there's a second part/fist technique that pairs with it. Not in the game (so far). Would make a good midgame quest or encounter.
2. There's a quest about Cheng Wanqing and some drugs that I think is supposed to imply that he's the reason Cheng Yu's horse goes out of control before the birthday celebration, but there's no follow up. Haven't replayed Sweet and Bitter Springs with the new update, but I went back in my current save and there wasn't any followup. Anyone know if this went anywhere?

general Huang of xungu pass has a subplot that can be potentially resolved in this update. in the vanilla patch saving his life reveals that he is constantly ill from a mysterious sickness that his secteray cheng xiu refuses to elaborate. This patch while doing the investigate xiao huangong quest for recruiting lianxin, if you go to Xungu pass first you can start a side quest that looks into his sickness and uncover a sinister plot. if you dont do this quest General Huang will pass away in the epilouge ending. around the same time you can go to lingchang and finish the Zhou si subplot( he was the busniness man being wrongfully targeted by the Condor Sect due to his Jealous family member trying to remove him from power in the family)
Now that a bit more time's passed I'm bringing this thread back to see if people have more thoughts on what could come in the next expansion.
1. The "main plot" will probably involve the Empress, the royal court and Yuwen Yi's nascent personal cultivation skill. These hooks were very deliberately placed.
2. Companion stuff: Yao Ji needs some more screentime, Li Yuanxing's story isn't done yet, and Huo Chanqing doesn't do anything the whole game.
3. There ought to be a quest connecting the Four Martial Families. A member of the missing fourth family is the mayor of one of the towns in Nanjiang. How about combining all their martial arts into a companion to Pearlflower Spear?
4. There's still some more unfinished business with Tianji Palace. That whole sect is based on the Big Dipper, with the internal subdivisions named for the seven stars. There should be seven hall masters, but the related ending only shows up to four (though less are possible). Who are the other three?
5. There are some named characters Yuwen Yi meets and impresses during Southern Chronicles who show up for the Shaolin duel. Could just be the devs showing how Yuwen Yi's reputation is spreading, but I think they could be independent backers for him as Martial Alliance Leader.
6. There are a few characters who are from an unnamed mysterious sect. They also don't do anything but they do show up on the world map for a conversation which is really rare.
7. Hidden weapons and fists need a quest and signature weapon that isn't for Frosty Condor.
8. At this point I'm just whining but Ye Fei should be able to use swords AND sabers.

Anyone have plot hooks or unfinished things they want to add?
the healthcare method "second part" i think is just gonna be forgotten unless the devs decide to add it in, i mean they did add a second cult method connected to the yoga sutra so it could be possible.

second one, its directly stated cheng wanqing tried getting his son killed by spiking his horse with that aphrodisiac or something else, if you had brought Cheng Yu to wudang and taught him martial arts he will come to help fight cheng wanqing and further expound on some info.

1- yeah, a future storyline plot will likely involve Yi going to the royal court to deal with the Empress who is planning a coup against the current negligent Emperor, something with the Chancellor (guy who's mentioned to be above Zhao An), Yi's personal method and then perhaps we finally get to see what the founding emperor's martial arts are along with commandress mu's own martial arts and what her version of the pearlflower spear technique is. Oh yeah and more stuff on the Mu family would be brought up since theres some shady stuff with how they were executed for "treason".

2- yeah Yaoji has been heavily neglected and certain companions like Kong, Chen and Huo have been left in the dust. just hope they get updated.

4- some endings have Yi become the new leader of Tianji Palace so who knows how the whole Tianji Palace stuff will be involved in future story, though some endings also have him retire, choose not to revive TP or become wudang's leader instead.

5- i don't know who you're talking about, named characters that Yi meets in southern chronicles and they appear in the shaolin duel? who?

6- basically all the characters that appear on the map are npcs or map bosses that you have met or encountered in areas of the game, nobody from some mysterious strong sect.

7- Fist really does need an update, it used to be king alongside Sword but now it's literally been left in the dust. Ironically Polearm is now the strongest in the game with the JD's Legacy. Sword is still king regardless of what happens but damn the shaolin swordplay is top tier, Saber got a massive buff with the Shaolin 2.0 saberplay, and Hidden Weapon received a legacy tier moveset "Jianghu Magnanimity".
That's just it, it's those two that sit in the teahouse near Shaolin and chat about nothing important. One of them has pink hair. They do show up on the map and say something at one point, and if you read their description one of them says they're from a mysterious sect.

....But they never do anything. It's very notable.

pink hair?? i don't remember a single person with pink hair in this game. I think you're referring to that woman with hot-pink coloured clothing from the north who comes to the central plains with her senior brother to see the shaolin duel and buddha hollow stuff, they say that funny line of something like "lets stock up on moisturiser". I don't think they're relevant at all, they're just one of many irrelevant people who you see.
