My guess is that people thought this would be like games like BG3 or Persona where you could romance most of your companions. But you can't romance any of them, because the game follows a very structured and linear storyline, in which it rarely acknowledges the companions you have with you unless they are story companions.
The MC is his own character, not your self-insert character. While you can make certain choices, it's still a very rigid and structured story, so you can't just go out and romance anyone you want.
so for me it's more the demos fault. Now I have to seriously try to figure out if it's my thing or not. I bet it might be a good game, but not sure if it's still fits my taste.
Not only because of the romance of course, but there is something like the nail on the coffin or how you say it.
And the most interesting of the main ones (Xiaoji) got less romance than the other.
Hopefully a future update will make more female companions potentially available for romance.
Just to say idk if they or you the bigger tourist of the type, as I thought when I saw this game it was a tied to Wuxia series.
And they all but 1 I think had a lot of romance including 1 or 2 having some insane follow guide 100% perfect for harem ending - 1 girl. Though will say being not western it is mainly end game resulting and otherwise just minor clear liking and maybe some hints of flirtation.
And tbh I quit all but Path of Wuxia as they tended to be to much of follow 3 guides or miss out on a lot easily and that not just if going for harem, and I got far to many games to play through to read guide more then play.
(still playing Path as that one as it requires least guide and even with romance toned way down, still decent game)
Also this game does seem very very much like them with guide following and has apparently 3 romance options and a harem ending.
"Who knows, you may even find love in this intricate world of martial arts!
" guess they lied about it then. lol, because they make it seems like there's more then just 1 or 2 little romance options.
