So many foreigners in this game?
Comparing with other martial arts games of the same type, we find that foreigners occupy most of the discussion boards of this martial arts game. Would any foreign friends please tell us why?

The world of martial arts is global. In the 90s, I did muay thai, Brazilian jiu jitsu and tae kwon do, but I couldn't find what I really wanted in my region, which is pankration. Every place in the world has its own style.
But about the game, many played the demo and liked the style.
I believe your doubt is in relation to the cultural style, I can say that quality games encompass the world and not just the area in which it is born, if the game is good it is good
And the game has English too, because if it were just in Mandarin I wouldn't be able to understand anything :D

Well said Juliano! And awesome to hear that you did muay thai, Brazilian jiu jitsu and tae kwon do! I think martial arts is indeed loved around the world, with their own unique styles to each region.

And yes, we did our best to ensure that the English localization is up to a high standard so that our audiences worldwide can enjoy the game :)

We like the setting/culture in these types of games just the same as how asian culture likes making a lot of manga, manhwa etc based in medieval european setting. It's nice to experience something out of the norm every once in awhile....plus I love games with these type of sprite work.

wuxia xianxia has an audience outside China too, even if it's very niche.

You're used to this kind of game, but for us it remains a curiosity because few are released in English.

For us Chinese culture and mythology is also rarely used in video games, even though it has enormous potential.

For me, it started with stumbling on Amazing Cultivation Simulator, and realizing this was a really interesting high fantasy-esque genre I didn't even know existed.

(Didn't end up buying it as I was burnt out on civilation/colony sims but it did introduce me to the basic concepts/ideas.)

Immortal Life, which I did buy, is a farming game I found on here in the cultivation genre and it is honestly one of my favorite farming sims.

So I have been very much trying to find more games focusing on this kind of mythos that are in English.

Also, Dynasty Warriors. That also gave me an interest in some of Chinese history years ago when I first picked up 4.

You cannot pursue Lu Bu.

I've been wanting to get into this genre for a long while now but couldn't find a good game for it. I tried Tale of Immortal, though I know that is a xianxia and this one is a wuxia, but it was too grindy and generic for my taste. Well that and I was exposed to Chinese history through the Romance of the Three Kingdoms books and the many games set in that era.

This one reminded me a lot of Chrono Trigger when I played it. Similar pixel artstyle with the 3D rendered backgrounds. Gameplay being this turn-based RPG but not a CRPG like Baldur's Gate 3, which was something I sought for a long while (Baldur's Gate 3 just wasn't my cup of tea in terms of gameplay). Characters are fleshed out from what I experienced and are nice to invest myself into.

The English translations are really good and not weird like most games of this genre. They even got some English colloquialisms and slangs in there that I am familiar with. Though it was odd to see Yuwen Yi say 'wee bit' in some sentence because that's often something I would hear a Scottish person would say but not what an American or Brit would often say, which I thought Yuwen Yi was going for in this English translation, but it's a minor nitpick and I'm not too bothered by it.

But yeah, so far I'm enjoying it. Though some stuff could use some more explanation I think, like the acupoint regions in the body. I was initially confused by terms like dantian, but I assumed it had to do with those acupoint regions because Yuwen Yi and Master Jiang (that man was so cool by the way) were talking about the flow of Qi during his detoxification process, which I was familiar with. I assume the writers had written this thinking the audience already knows what they're referring to, so I guess that's okay. But it would be nice if we got more explanations for the sake of worldbuilding and introducing the world to the newer audience.

The title of the topic "So many foreigners in this game?" at first made me think there was foreign/western characters in the full release of the game itself, who would naturally stick out appearing in a chinese kung-fu fantasy setting.

Honestly wouldn't mind a character like Sir Roderick Ponce Von Fontlebottom (the Magnificent Bastard) as a party member, with a style of combat that was vastly different but no less devastating than the local fighting methods which would be an interesting contrast.
