Reus 2
How many towns are you building?
Personally I have been doing 3 towns, 1 per terrain type. I tend to specialize 1 per resource if possible to give me options in the store. What say ye?

i always try to have 4 but then the 4th gets neglected and stays lvl1, because not enough eon for goals

3 in era 0 for sure. If I have some extra eon in era 2 I'll add a 4th to see if I can sneak a project in. Having a 4th town can make it easier to hit 500 prosperity, and for sludgecorp you'll eventually want 5.

3 cities for me, 2 biomes per city for biodiversity end of era bonus. Most of the time I can get required biodiversity in 5 unique biomes playing on Giant.

Usually 3, but sometimes it's worth building a 4th city to hit the 500 prosperity goal.

+1. I don't know how anyone could meet the 500 prosperity goal, or 200 population/wealth/science goals without 4+ cities. A fourth city also helped with Sludgeworks. For everything else, most benefits seemed capped at three cities; even more when a specific city needs to meet a specific goal.

Recently got to 645 prosperity on Giant dificulty with Inventor (145 prosperity), Pirate Queen (232 prosperity) and Miner (240 prosperity) and got only 32 bonus prosperity from biodiversity. (Era 3 biggest bonus I saw was 75 prosperity)

My total tech was 267. I have went for Calm era at the end for some reason so probably could have gotten slightly better score by picking solar.

Not sure if adding 4 city would have given me a better score, Probably not due the way I like to play. 5 cities was way too exhausting but tried 4 cities only few times and stopped as I got no extra eaons for funding them.

I find that my win condition always ends up being playing around a few super-scaling Tier 3 biotica. Since you can generally afford only 2~4 of them at best because of Biodiversity, it's really nice making them even better with scaling City Projects (eg. 1 tech per 1 tech in best tech-biotica), and it's just really hard to consistently to get to that point for 4-5 cities. Better to stick with 3 cities and use scaling projects.

Same as you. And one resource type per biome makes sense to me, since it helps focus on whatever the little people held captive by Abbey Games want in their biome. I hate disappointing them.

Closing in on completing every milestone (got mostly the grindy ones left) and I've stuck to 3 cities on every planet. It's not really a huge problem once you learn most of the tricks. Hell, I made most of them without even paying attention micros, which I just recently discovered can do a lot of heavy lifting when used right.

3 towns, 3 biomes but I put each town on the border of each biome so their borders dip into two different ones. Great for some projects like the furniture maker giving you big knowledge boosts for having 4/6 trees and having the town on the border of a taiga and rainforest, both with their own trees.

I haven't played with more biomes or extra towns yet.

This has been my go-to setup recently

usualy 3 until era 2, then a 4th if i need some extra prosperity, i've never had to use a 5th for anything other than sludgecorp era

What's not being mentioned is the difficulty. Titanic increases growth scaling, so you need more resources for the same prosperity.

It's easier to clear Era 3 with only 3 cities in normal scaling.

I've often found I needed a fourth city to reach 500 without a broken combo, and Sludge/Cultist tend to require 5.
