Pleading to allow Oceans to be settled
It always feels weird to me that you can't go full on into Ocean biomes as a main biome, Can we eventually get something that allows people to live in oceans without separating biomes? Or perhaps when you try to settle them in an ocean it makes Islands or the humans live on floating settlements, even if it breaks the Deep mini biome? I'd really appreciate this especially for the pirate queen.

Floating settlements would be wonderful. I hope this idea reaches the Devs. Making a world in the style of the movie Waterworld would be too cool.

I am just starting to play the game, and was about to ask if oceans could have cities on them somehow. So, if they can't, then what is the point of even making ocean areas? Seems like a missed opportunity here. Wasted space where you could put land that actually does stuff and lets people build and thrive.

So, what are oceans good for then, please?

Oceans can still be expanded into by settlements, and deep oceans (at least 3 tiles away from any land) have some of the most powerful biotica in the game.

Honestly, I like that oceans can't have cities, it makes ocean different, I wish the other biomes had similar uniqueness. Taiga has the "rugged" feature, which is cool, but the other 4 dont really have anything similar.

You only need the one land tile for the village. The rest can be surrounded by ocean. It does split the biome but that's the same with any village.
What would be nice is using islands as an equivalent to the mountain. The main drawback of oceans at the moment being you can't benefit from any of those special features.

Ocean's unique ability being "it breaks Biodiversity continuity when a village is between them" is so funny. It's a pure disadvantage, nothing else. And no, villages don't split Biodiversity when it's surrounded by the same biome as itself.

It is a disadvantage, but I'm not thinking of it as an "ability", but rather as a feature, and sometimes the features of the game are challenges you need to deal with. Ocean has some powers that make up for it, like I said, deep ocean has some of the best biotica in the game.

You can make ocean settlements. Place the village on land then terraform that land into ocean and somehow it just works.

Deep Ocean bioticas are balanced around the fact that you can't have a city in it, and Coastal biotica are balanced around the fact that the spots are limited.

I like it this way, don't lake the sameness / streamlining that seems to permeate most games nowadays.

It becomes (or at least is supposed to become) two separate oceans in that case.

I was just experimenting with this and I found that if you build a city on land and then terraform it into water, you get Atlantis!

I think an island biome would be pretty cool.

Welp, I would love an island biome too! I'm collecting all your suggestions here, thanks. We're also currently working on fixing the cities going underwater when replacing the biome.

I would have loved if Reus 2 added some non-humans, maybe like some fish people that only settle ocean tiles or something. That would have been awesome.

I mean, if you build the settlement on the coastline you can absolutely force the expansion to make it 100% ocean based. The only problem is that it still develops projects based on what biome it was built in. The best solution would probably be to allow settlements to be built on the ocean coastline tile.

Also, to the people talking about the ocean being split, don't build islands. There's no limit or penalty to expanding far to one side, so you can utilize a 10+ tile ocean by just settling on the coastline.

Their animal/plant/mineral choices give them some distinction. Deserts don't have a wide variety of plants, and forests don't have that many minerals. Want a ruby and diamond to clinch your wealth? You won't find that in a rain forest. Not to argue with your idea--I would prefer something more obviously distinct as you do, but the items available (especially with different, rotating drafts) lead you down specific paths.
