It means that:
If you have 2 Gems and 2 Trees, you'll gain <X> two times.
If you have 3 Gems and 1 Tree, you'll gain <x> once.
If you have 4 Gems and 5 Trees, you'll gain <x> four times.
Etc - the number of times you complete that set.
Got it... so they don't have to be adjacent to each other to count as a set? Just within the same biome (or whatever the symbiosis says)?
