Cannot become group leader in game master solo

Need to provide more information. What steps are you taking? I can only assume you mean you are trying to take control of a entity and then recruit a squad. In order to do that, you have to place a player character, not an AI entity.

Try this..

1. Place a squad on the map
   
2. Press Space and place a player character on map
   
3. Right click player character and choose "Play"
   
4. Recruit the squad as normal

I got it now. Yeah I was trying to recruit/command a squad placed in gamemaster whilst controlling it's squad leader. Didn't realize I had to spawn in as a player to be considered a group leader.

Awesome. Glad you got it figured out. I actually never tried it till I saw your post and I did the same thing you did. Then I hit space and saw the add player option.
